This project is all about robots. Great shambling hulks of metal dredged from the deep wastes, clanking and sputters noxious fumes. Pristine A.I. warriors running oiled and smooth, newly stamped from the presses of state of the art production facilities. We must bow before the might of the armored behemoths, or be crushed beneath their steel shod soles.
These models are cast in resin and come as unassembled multi-part kits. The models supplied may vary slightly from images shown. No bases are supplied, but the leg pieces all have integral stands to allow for easy assembly and use. The models stand about 40mm to the top of their shoulders, with the heads and back-packs making this a bit higher, depending on which are chosen.
The pledges are split into three categories. The first is the deal for a single robot. When the project finishes and the questionnaires go out there will be an opportunity to pick which parts you want to make your robot from. This will be a set of legs or tracks, a torso, a backpack power plant and the relevant options for the arms and gun mounts, plus of course a choice of head. Backers that pledge at this level will get a good selection of different gun barrels to choose from. This is really the "mix and match" option for creating your own robot variant from the parts shown below.
The other two options are a little more restricted on what can be chosen. Backers at these levels will be able to select robots from those shown here. Please select either 3 or 5 robots from those shown and named. The heads supplied are your choice, and I am willing to make limited changes. The choice of gun barrel is also allowed on these pledges, so if you want flame assault robots or hard hitting laser blasters its all good. These robots can be all the same model or a selection from the named robots.
I added a new robot on the 8th of may, Cerberus.
The images that follow show all the named robots. If you select the 3 or 5 robot pledge level then please select from the robots shown.
Shown next are images of the models pictured above but unpainted, so you can get a clearer idea of the detail level.
The robots are made up from parts, so they are multi-pose and easy to customise.
Each robot comes with a head of your choice. These are £1 each as an add on.
These are the three available torsos sections. These are £2.50 each as an add on.
Here is the torso for cerberus. These are £3 each as an add on.
Here is the torso with the legs but no guns.
There are three leg types, dog leg, man leg and track unit. These are £2.50 each as an add on.
ARMS AND GUNS
The guns are split into two sections, a stock or back end and a barrel. This allows for robots to be given guns that match but are different types. The fist image is the actual arms and stocks that go onto the models.
These are £1 each as an add on, although the gun stocks also come with a barrel for that price.
I failed to include the missile pod in the image above, its here and is also £1 as an add-on.
Here are the gun barrels. Please select which barrels you want supplied with your robots. The single robot pledge level will be packed with a selection of these as standard. These are £0.50 each as an add on, or come included with a gun stock for the £1 arm price.
Below are some images that show examples of the guns assembled with different barrels on them.
The final parts that go to make up the robots are the back mounted power packs. These are £2 each as an add on.
Finally, I have put together some other robots from the parts listed. The images show how versatile the kits are for making really fun robots. These count as "named robots" and I'm happy to supply any of the ones pictured in the 3 or 5 robot selection levels.
The single robot pledge level includes world wide shipping in the price, so no extra charge is incurred after the initial £10 pledge.
The 3 robot pledge level carries a nominal extra postage fee for backers outside the United Kingdom. European backers will have to pay £1 extra. Backers in the rest of the world will have to pay £2 extra, including backers from Australia. The postage fees are on top of the £25 minimum pledge level.
The 5 robot pledge level carries a nominal extra postage fee for backers outside the United Kingdom. European backers will have to pay £2 extra. Backers in the rest of the world will have to pay £3 extra, including backers from Australia. The postage fees are on top of the £35 minimum pledge level.
These extra fees are simply the approximate difference incurred on the standard Royal Mail postal service I will be using to send out the rewards. It is more expensive to post outside of the UK.
By popular demand I have done a price break-down of all the parts for the robots. Each part is priced as in this diagram. Please note that a robot made of parts will be £10, which is the same as the £10 pledge. However, the £10 pledge comes with some free extra parts, and if the case of X23 comes with a free extra gun to go with the gun mount back pack.
Please note as well that an arm can be any of the arms shown on the main page, including the claw, gun or fist. The guns break down into a front and back part so is £1 for a complete gun. If any backers want multiple of the barrels or stocks I will do these for 50p each. If you want to add any parts then simply increase your pledge. When the project finishes you will get a questionnaire. This will have space on it to specify exactly what you want.
STRETCH GOAL - £4000
If the project goes over £4000 I will pack an extra robot for free in with every reward. Yep, thats right, one free robot. If you select several copies of the same robot with the 3 or 5 robot pledge levels then it will simply be an extra copy of the same parts. If you have selected the 1 robot deal or a mix of robots then it will be a robot made of random parts.
Risks and challenges
I have previously run four other Kickstarter projects as Ramshackle Games. These have all funded successfully and have all been fulfilled. On this project, I have the masters and master moulds made. I am seeking the funds to put them into production. I will need to purchase the materials, namely moulding rubber and casting resin. I have put a delivery date of six months after completion for delivery of the models. However, as soon as the funding comes in I will be ordering the materials and then making the moulds. This will mean the first backers should receive their models within a month of completion, and I will send out the rest as they are manufactured. However, what has happened before is that the projects have been more popular than I expected. This obviously meant delays on sending out the rewards to the final backers. If this proves the case in this situation then I will post updates and let all the backers know.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
