A  Maker Faire is a life changing experience, and we hope to dazzle, entertain and educate the visiting masses this year as the Gearologist and the Gear Lab set up a table full of gear-moving potential under the tents at this year's Maker Faire.  Cogbots is assisting by donating 500$ worth of wooden gears for everyone to experiment and explore, however this is not a paid gig, so we need to cover car travel from Kokomo to Dearborn,a hotel room, with a few peanut butter sandwiches thrown in to keep the Gearologist team running. Cogbots is donating raw wood gears, which we are already busy sanding and finishing... but we are hoping you will all be generous and pass our minimum travel costs. Any money donated above our match point will go into the "finishing fund". We hope to add stains and paints and magnets and all kinds of marvelous things that will make an exciting kinetic art and turn it into something amazing. I will spend as many hours as needed to finish the gears, if you will provide funds for the finishing products.

In the Booth, we will have a  table pre-drilled with holes, bolts, wingnuts and boxes and bins of gears  and cranks for people to stack, sort, assemble and get turning.

We had a prototype mini gear lab at the World Steam Expo, and everyone who stopped and gave it a whirl ended  up smiling. I witnessed a 5 year old spontaneously discover gear ratios, and new art forms get inspired.  We had a small baby bin of gears and magnets at Origins 2011 and kids of all ages would come by and make mini art on our  table.  We can not wait to see what the amazing creative folks at the Maker Faire will come up with.

You will be able to see what they come up with too, because we will be taking pictures and filming off and on all weekend, then publishing them for all to share afterward.

Special Thanks to the wonderful Steampunk/Art Community friends who have donated totally cool rewards. Be Sure to click on through and check out Myke Amend Art, LittleTown Glass Creations, Lance Miller's Steampunk Cards and the amazing creations of FrankandSteele .
