About this project
I was born in Heredia, Costa Rica. My fascination for New Orleans didn't begin until my then future wife and I took a trip to her home state. We married, honeymooned in New Orleans, moved to Louisiana and began a lifelong relationship with a city and it's history. We've been married 22 years now!
My project will showcase paintings that I have been sketching for years. I will paint ten, 48" x 60" pieces and another ten, 30" x 40" pieces. They will be colorful, richly textured, bold works. I'm so very excited about exhibiting these paintings and have a couple of galleries interested in showcasing them already. Eventually, I'd love to offer them as a calendar and book. You can visit my website (angelmatamoros.com) to view past works, biography, curriculum vitae and press clippings.
The funds raised will be used for quality art supplies, canvases, framing (framing takes close to half the amount at $4,500) and time spent in the studio. The whole creation process will be photographically recorded. The remaining funds will aid in moving the art as it travels and exhibits, with the final goal being the production of a calendar and book.
Thank you KickStarter for the opportunity to present my work and ideas. Thank you backers for joining me in this creative journey! ¡Pura Vida!
