My name is Kim Bjørn – welcome to the PATCH & TWEAK Kickstarter campaign! Following our book PUSH TURN MOVE about electronic music instruments - we are now creating a book about modular synthesizers and how to use them. Check more on our website.
PATCH & TWEAK provides an opportunity for new and experienced users to become true masters of their modular systems by exploring, explaining, and demystifying a range of topics relevant to anyone interested in modular synths or just synthesis itself.
A cornerstone of PATCH & TWEAK is a bouquet of inspirational interviews with significant creators and major artists. Learn about their systems, philosophies, patching secrets, performance tips, and passion for modular synthesis.
Besides a comprehensive introduction to synthesis and its history, the book covers systematic sections on concepts, purpose and creative possibilities of specific modules. Enjoy colorful diagrams, presentations of both popular and rare modules, semi-modular and software, as well as techniques for patching and how to get started.
PATCH & TWEAK has a foreword by Suzanne Ciani, is written by Kim Bjørn and Chris Meyer, and edited by Paul Nagle. So what exactly is PATCH & TWEAK? Watch the video, take the tour below, and please support the book by selecting a reward if you like the idea.
NB: The rewards got updated during the campaign. Please check the table below to get all specific information about each reward.

Risks and challenges
As an author and designer, I have written and designed more than a handful of books before, so I know the process and what to do. All files involved in production are backed up regularly to two different hardware locations and one cloud service.
More than a third of the book is already done, written and designed.
The experienced editor Paul Nagle, reviewer from Sound on Sound Magazine (UK), will do editing during June and July while I do photo-editing and corrections.
The printing will be done in a reputable printing facility in Denmark, which is specialised in book printing. They have printed some of my books before, and that's why I chose them: They are easy to communicate with and delivers outstanding quality. I have already had an extensive communication with them and booked the printing to be done from 6th of August.
The fulfillment is done by professional companies, who handle our usual shipping. They will be responsible for sending most of the books out.
For the record: The book is completely commercial-free, content is selected by relevance to the overall purpose of the book. We are in close contact with the artists, makers, and designers contributing to this book and they trust us in our aim to deliver the best.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
