The graphic novel will collect all 4 chapters in the White Knuckle Birthday story (including The Shadow of Regret) in one beautiful, black-and-white volume (75+ pages). You'll see Rob Powell's birthday unfold with the irrevocable choices and sinister villains threatening to make this Rob's last birthday ever.
White Knuckle Birthday: The Graphic Novel will be 75+ pages of black-and-white storytelling. Everyone who pledges at least $10 will receive a digital subscription to White Knuckle Birthday: The Graphic Novel. This means you'll get a new digital "mini-chapter" every 1-2 months for a full year. You'll watch Rob's birthday unravel as you await delivery of the completed graphic novel next year. All pledges of at least $20 receive a gorgeous, printed copy of White Knuckle Birthday: The Graphic Novel, produced locally in Portland, Oregon.
We're incredibly grateful for the community of family, friends, independent artists, and others who've gotten us this far. There would be no White Knuckle Birthday without our community.
Now, we appeal to each of you to pledge your support and help us finish our story. Kickstarter is all or nothing, so every pledge counts. To show our sincere thanks, every pledge level includes a thank you in the graphic novel and a personal note delivered by mail.
Simply put, we can't finish this book without your funding. Our production costs greatly exceed what we could afford on our own. Kickstarter helps us build our project website, reach potential supporters, expand our community, and process campaign pledges. We've considered many financial and creative factors to produce the least expensive, most effective Kickstarter campaign that fulfills our vision. The graph below shows how we'll spend $5,500:
Colin Westerfield (Creator/Writer) loves stories that search for deeper truths about the human condition and why people choose their paths in life. Colin considers himself a student of all written forms and cites Philip K. Dick, Cormac McCarthy, David Milch, Vince Gilligan, Brian Wood, and Greg Rucka among his biggest influences. Colin is currently 2/3 done with a graduate degree in Occupational Therapy. He spends his free time exploring nature and the Pacific Northwest with his amazing girlfriend and incredible friends.
Mac Cooper (Penciller/Inker) is a freelance artist and designer out of Portland, OR, working to bring you worlds you can drop right into through a little ingenuity and illustration. He's worked on a handful of comics over the years, but you never forget your first time...comic. He's super excited at the chance to bring all of his new experience to bear and finish off WKB after all these years! You can see his work at maccooperart.com
Jeff Faraday (Letterer) lives a full, active life in Ithaca, NY with his amazing wife and two wonderful daughters. Jeff loves breathing new life into artistic ideas, whether working as a freelance graphic artist/designer or lettering comics. He has a passion for great food and wine and loves sharing his passion with his family and friends. Jeff got in on the ground floor with White Knuckle Birthday and has contributed his visionary ideas since day one.
Risks and challenges
Our Biggest Challenges? Time and Patience. Mac works full-time as a freelance artist. As such, he'll draw White Knuckle Birthday on his days off, which should take about a year. We've made the story lean and mean and Mac's drawing faster and more efficiently than ever. We'll get the first pages to you by January, followed by regular updates and digital mini-chapters to keep the year moving quickly. We've also mapped out a feasible production schedule to deliver the best book we can, as fast as we can.
Also, CANADA and MEXICO residents, your shipping rates will be up to 50% LESS than what's listed for worldwide shipping. Please contact us and we'll get you a rate!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
