The Adjust-O-Weight Custom Balance Pen lets the user balance the pen as they wish. Tip heavy, back heavy or any number of weight balancing possibilities in between.
When a user buys a premium pen, the first thing they do is check the pens balance and feel. Now pen users can get the balance and feel YOU want and not just the "one size fits all" approach currently on the pen market.
Some writers may want a tip heavy pen to help eliminate writers hand fatigue or an illustrator may want a heavier backed pen to help with the pen tip pressure for the delicate nuance of fine lines in an illustration.
The writers/illustrators reasons, possibilities and weight combinations are nearly limitless, which is what makes the Adjust-O-Weight Custom Balance Pen, a truly unique custom pen. Brass tip option pics below.
Springs secure internal weights in place for rattle-free, solid balance.
The'Adjust-O-Weight' pen ships with internal and external weights, weight springs, aluminum screws (M4 and 10-32), two Allen wrenches, desktop pen stand, barrel components and a Hi-Tec-C ink cartridge(s) in the color of your choice and a tool/weight case for storage!

Why am I asking for the amount I'm asking for?
The 'Adjust-O-Weight' pen consists of several precision components. Turning raw material into a precision writing instrument is an enjoyable but time consuming effort. The cost of tooling (turning tools, taps, etc.) are included in the production cost estimate as well as packaging and shipping.
Why is the Hi-Tec-C so loved?
The Hi-Tec-C so loved because of two innovations.
The ball. A three-point mounting system supports the carbide ball. Three dimples around the tip of the pipe allow the ball to rotate in a natural, frictionless manner. This allows for the highly precise lines that the Pilot Hi-Tec-C is known for.
The ink. No matter how small the pen tip is, it is impossible to write fine lines if the ink bleeds. The Hi-Tec-C uses a special "biopolymer ink" that uses resin made from microbes, such as yeast. This allows the ink to flow smoothly and cleanly from the tip, and prevents the ink from bleeding on the page.
The 'Adjust-O-Weight' pen, as a Kickstarter project, will end when the pens are produced and shipped. Support for the 'Adjust-O-Weight' pen (extra weights, springs, replacement parts, etc.) will last as long as demand, demands.

The pen will be made in the U.S. (Minnesota) which eliminates the issue of dealing with an out of town machine shop. Production costs and allowances have already been established.
My machinists experience gives me unique insight to production considerations, e.g. how to design the pen and time effective production.
As a screen printer, I have to meet daily customer printing deadlines and schedules which gives me a great understanding of operating within delivery dates.
The aluminum and brass materials used in the pen have good availability and are not subject to extreme pricing spikes or shortages.
If I need to ramp up production speed or in the unlikely event I get hit by a bus, I have another local machine shop that will assist.
Yes the pen cartridge does retract. Twisting the pen end, retracts the ink cartridge into the pen barrel, where the cartridge tip stays protected. Checkout the video at about 1:20. No cap to loose!!
