Dear Amazing Kickstarters,
This is Daniel and whilst I have been quiet on the update front, I think you can guess what the dev team has been up to :)
As you will soon be receiving your Kickstarter pledge, I thought it would be good to give you a complete update on the firmware development roadmap. As Fred previously mentioned, the LoPy (and new WiPy) both passed FCC/CE certification and whilst we are pleased with the outcome of the hardware build we still have some firmware work to do which will be carried out over the next few weeks with the brand new ESP32 SDK. Again, We are receiving incredible support from Espressif and we know you will be very pleased with the performance of this amazing chip!
So far this is what we have: 1. A full blown MicroPython interpreter with floating point support. 2. The socket module with support for TCP, UDP and LoRa sockets. 3. A complete network module with the WLAN and the LoRa classes. 4. The complete OS module with a 512KB file system on the internal flash. 5. A reduced machine module with an almost complete Pin and UART classes. 6. A minimal time module. 7. The FTP and Telnet servers.
Over the next few weeks we will be releasing periodic firmware updates to fill the gaps until we finally end up exposing all the features of this wonderful hardware. The Roadmap for completion is as follows
- 21/10/16: We will enable basic BLE support, implement all the function in the machine module, complete the time module, the Pin and UART classes and also add a complete SPI class to the machine module.
- 28/10/16: I2C, RTC and ADC.
- 4/11/16: WDT, SD and Timers.
- 11/11/16: Completion of the Bluetooth class and enablement of the _thread and threading modules.
At the same time we are working to add more content to the docs every day. Please join us on our new forum for support or to share any comments: www.forum.pycom.io
We are super thankful for your support and we appreciate your continued patience during this process. As we are very aware, it would not be possible with you!
