Are you "too shy" or "too sensitive" according to others? Do you have a keen imagination and vivid dreams? Is time alone each day as essential to you as food and water? Do noise and confusion quickly overwhelm you?
Most of us feel overstimulated every once in a while, but for the Highly Sensitive Person, it's a way of life.
About 1 in 5 people are highly sensitive -- and most don't know it. Nor do the people who love them. They just know that their loved one can cry easily, react to situations that others just shrug their shoulders at, and otherwise take things just too personally.
There is relief in knowing you are highly sensitive. It's a relief to understand why you react the way you do. It's a relief to know there are others like you. It's a relief to better understand yourself and your trait.
Sensitive--The Untold Story is based on Dr. Elaine Aron's findings. In 1991 she made a breakthrough discovery: an innate trait of high sensitivity. Since then, her international bestseller The Highly Sensitive Person has been translated into 17 languages and her research is published in top-tier peer reviewed journals such as The Journal of Personality and Social Psychology and Brain and Behavior, as well as replicated and extended by other scientists, who will be interviewed in the film.
Sensitive--The Untold Story will explore the trait of high sensitivity through interviews with scientists, true stories, dramatic reenactments and stunning cinematography. The goal of the film “Sensitive- The Untold Story” is to raise awareness about the nature of HSP, forge better understanding between HSP’s and non-HSP’s, may they be children, parents, spouses, or co-workers, dispel myths about shyness, challenge stereotypes and inspire dialogue among professionals and further research of the innate trait of high sensitivity.
Your Kickstarter contributions to Sensitive-The Untold Story are tax deductible, because we have created a nonprofit foundation: Foundation for the Study of Highly Sensitive Persons. Our mission statement is "To research and educate the public about the trait of high sensitivity". If there are profits from the film, some of those profits would go towards further research on sensory processing sensitivity (high sensitivity). Some would be used to make more films or otherwise educate the public.
Risks and challenges
The vagaries and pitfalls of producing a film project are very well understood by the production team for "Sensitive." The award-winning Global Touch Group has directed and/or produced dozens of projects, including network shows and specials, reality series, talk shows (including the Oprah show), music videos, documentaries and branding films, commercials, corporate presentations, fundraising campaigns, and direct sales presentations. Production challenges will be addressed through the GlobalTouch Group's experience, connections and resources in the industry.
Having the funds to complete a project is a common challenge in the movie industry. In the case of "Sensitive," we guarantee that the documentary will be made when the project funds at the $50,000 level.
