In Prime Wars players are transported to a fantasy world torn apart by the different races that exist there, each one striving for survival and a chance to gain ultimate power. However, like most wars this one is full of mutiny, lies and manipulation. The races have become fragmented and it is now a war where everyone fights for their own blood. With the aim of the game to have no cards left in your hand, players have to think strategically about which races they take to battle at each opportunity.
Prime Wars contains over 60 cards, each featuring a unique piece of artwork from some of the greatest digital artists on the planet. These artists include: Andrew Baker, Peter Popken, Fabio Barretta Zungrone, Marta Nael, Justin Adams, David Munoz Velazquez and Joon Hyung Ahn.
Race Cards have advantages over each other such as DEATH STRIKE, BACKSTAB and MIND CONTROL.
Wild Cards are represented as Mercenaries and have the ultimate power in that they can be played on top of any other card regardless of its value.
Battleground Cards are a real game changer, allowing a player to change the direction of play, inflict cards on their opponents or make them miss a turn.
As we are known as a high quality publisher at 3DTotal Publishing, we thought it would be appropriate to include some of our titles within the pledging tiers.
Limited Edition Digital Art Playing Cards – Featuring all 50 illustrations from Digital Art Masters: Volume 7, these limited edition playing cards celebrate the continued success of the series and offer you a pocket-sized gallery bursting with inspiration.
PRIME – Fresh off the press! This is the collection of five gallery books in one slipcase that the card game is based on. The books include all the artwork that features on the cards, plus a whole lot more. If you like the cards, you will love this full collection.
Beginner's Guide to Digital Painting in Photoshop – This best-selling book is perfect for anyone who is inspired by the artwork featured on the cards and wants to learn how to create some of their own pieces.
Digital Painting Techniques: Volumes 1-3 – This collection of books is one of our most popular. Not only featuring stunning artwork, each volume is also full of tutorials for artists of all levels and abilities to enjoy.
Each player is dealt 10 cards.
The remaining deck is placed face-down on the table, as the pick-up deck, and the top card is turned over to form the discard pile.
Play starts to the left of the dealer.
The first player must choose one of the following options:
1. They can play a card that beats the value of the current card on top of the discard pile.
2. They can play a Battleground card, which have various different effects that are stated on the cards (e.g: "change direction of play" or "the next player misses a turn").
3. They can play a Mercenary card (wild card), which automatically beats the current card on the top of the discard pile, no matter what its value is.
If the player cannot beat the card on the discard pile through any of the above methods, they lose their turn and must pick up a card from the deck.
Play then continues in a clockwise direction.
Many cards have a race bonus, which can be used to beat higher value cards. The race bonuses are as follows:
Heroes get +2 against Beasts
Aliens get +2 against Assasins
Beasts get +2 against Minions
Assasins get +2 against Heroes
Robots get +2 against Aliens
Minions get +2 against Robots
If a player beats the card on the discard pile using a race bonus, then the player who played that beaten card has to pick up two cards from the deck.
Once a race bonus has been used, it expires. The value the next player has to beat is the original value of the card on the discard pile, not the racial bonus value. (Eg: If a Hero card has beaten a Beast card, the +2 race bonus will not apply to the value of the Hero card when the next player tries to beat it.)
Certain cards have special powers:
Mind Control – if a card with this power is played it allows the player to play any additional card at the same time. The additional card is placed on top of the initial card with the Mind Control power.
Death Strike – if a card with this power is played it allows the player to play any additional card at the same time. The additional card is placed under the initial card with the Death Strike power.
Backstab – if a card with this power is played it allows the player to give any other card from their hand to another player of their choice.
The game can be played in two different ways, depending how long players wish to play for:
Single round: The first player to get rid of all of their cards is declared the winner and the game ends (if playing with more than two players, the remaining players can play on to decide the minor places). Estimated time: 10-20 mins.
Multiple rounds: The first player to get rid of all of their cards is declared the winner of that round. The remaining players add up the value of the cards left in their hand and note down these scores. In this situation, Battleground cards are worth 10 and Mercenary cards are +10 in addition to their face value. Play can continue for as many rounds as the players want, with the player with the lowest score at the end of all of the rounds being declared the winner. Estimated time: 20 mins +.
Kickstarter provides a platform for business ideas to be created and allows consumers to get their favourite ideas delivered straight to their doors after watching the projects evolve. We have decided to make Prime Wars available to both Kickstarter and 3DTotal consumers - making Kickstarter and our shop the only place you can get the game!
On top of this, we want you all to feel involved with our project from start to finish! We would love to see your thoughts in the comment section so that we can keep up to date with you all as the project grows.
First of all, if you are reading this then thank you for showing an interest in our project. If you have or are thinking about pledging some of your hard-earned cash to help us make Prime Wars a success then we genuinely cannot thank you enough. In return we promise to deliver a high quality, fun game for you and all your friends and family to enjoy!
So, how did we come up with the game? Well, here at 3DTotal we all share a love for digital art and computer graphics, and feel this amazing artwork needs to be showcased in as many ways as possible. With that in mind, we wanted to create a game that is simple for everyone to play and also does the artwork that is out there justice.
We have a lot of experience in publishing and are well known for creating high quality art books that people love to collect. We decided to take our publishing skills to the next level and test our creativity by creating Prime Wars. Hopefully you all enjoy the game as much as we have enjoyed creating it and we hope the beautiful artwork inspires you to get creative yourselves.

We have a few cards up our sleeves…
As we have managed to reach our target with quite a bit of time left, we thought introducing a new one would be a good idea! We have decided to make a new target of $16,000! By reaching this new target we can get Prime Wars out to as many people as possible and showcase the incredible artwork.
This is obviously double what we asked for to be able to fund Prime Wars and we know that we are now asking for even more support from you all and your friends. With this in mind, we thought that we would offer every backer (over $20) a free and unique set of limited edition playing cards if we manage to reach this new target of $16,000.
This set of cards consist of different artwork from the other poker set available within our pledges and the Prime Wars game, meaning you would get a whole new mini gallery of fantastic illustrations from a selection of top artists. Also, as these cards aren’t tied to the game you can play all your favorite traditional card games and show off your limited edition set to all your friends and family!
Thanks again for your support,
Tom & the 3DTotal Team
We have had a lot of people asking us the same question regarding the shipping costs to Canada. Unfortunately, Canada is included in the 'Rest of the World' section which to be honest isn't what we want! Due to the time scale we had to launch the project this was the best deal we could set up with our American distributors and as we are a UK based company we can't ship them from here any cheaper either.
However, we have done some maths and as the project is looking strong at the moment we can reduce the shipping costs to Canada so they are the SAME price as 'Rest of Europe'. Please adjust your pledges if you are one of our Canadian supporters (we can't change the shipping on the pledges column now that the project is live).
We hope you can still support us and we will try our very best to help our Canadian fans get a hold of Prime Wars!
The 3DTotal Team
Yes please! Please remember to add your shipping cost onto your pledge amount e.g. $30 pledge for the card game $20 and shipping to 'Rest of Europe' $10
