Laughing Lotus Yoga LOVE spills out onto the streets. We want to expand our community center by adding a parklet and cafe!
We’re growing up!
After half a decade of soulful yoga classes, it’s time to expand our vision. In the next 12 months, Laughing Lotus will spill out onto the streets of SF! We’re building a beautiful parklet and adding a cafe with your favorite healthful sips and snacks--another reason to linger longer and enjoy our city. Making conscious choices is central to the sacred teachings of yoga--by opening up our space to the larger community, we can be a reminder that transformation is possible!
Expanding our Community-
We've grown so much and everyone in the Lotus community matters to us. When we build the parklet, we’ll have an outdoor space to connect and celebrate.
Parklets turn car space into people space.
Our yoga center will spill out into the street--two parking spaces will turn into a beautiful mini-park! Stewarding a parklet is just another way for us to bring yoga to the world--a reminder to stop and enjoy time outside.
We’ll transform the parking space with artwork from Creativity Explored!
San Francisco has a great history of public art and murals and we’re excited to contribute by featuring the art of Creativity Explored, the neighboring visual art center for people with disabilities.
We’ll also offer vegan treats
With the closing of Cafe Gratitude, our city lost an institution dedicated to veganism. We’d like to step up and remind the world that every choice matters...and with the help of some vegan cookies, choosing is easy! Even folks who may not take yoga class can sit in the sun, chat with a friend, delight in a cookie and celebrate city life.
You can help us create this dream.
Of course, to manifest this beautiful dream, we need your help. This is a chance for us all to come together to create a center for Community, Creativity and Spirituality. Every little bit brings us closer to making this real! (Also, if you are short on cash but have some skills and time, we’d love to talk to you about in-kind donations.)
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Creating a gathering place that can both handle high traffic and be environmentally respectful is no small feat. Luckily, we've already done it once! When we opened in 2008, we transformed an old plumbing shop into a gorgeous practice space, using all natural materials to create a tremendous skylight, water based paints for our murals, and native plants for our garden. We would love nothing more than to bring this natural beauty out onto the street in the form of a parklet.
