Welcome to my Kickstarter campaign. Please follow us on Facebook at Honey in the Woods Reading & Coloring Books and Instagram at childrensbookauthor4u. My name is Miriam "Miso" Nowon, and I am one step closer to being a published children's book author. With your help, I am hoping to raise funds to print my first 100 books. Any additional funds raised will be used to print more books at a lower price, include color pencils with each coloring book, order shipping & packaging supplies, order promotional materials and banners for book signings, festival, events, and publish multiple versions of the book, such as the colored story-book version, Spanish, French, Chinese, German and other language versions.
I've collaborated with teachers, educators, and kids for suggestions and feedback to ensure this is a quality, educational book for your home, school, or daycare.
With your help, I plan to print my 1st 100 books in preparation for public distribution under my pseudonym, Miso Agogo. The books will be as follows: paperback reading and coloring books, 8 ½’’ x 11’’ in size, 36-pages including front & back covers. It will include 32 coloring pages, 1 story, and many interactive lessons. Once the book is released to the public, we will have printable online educational worksheets & answer keys that can be used in conjunction with the book.
The ideal age for this book is 3-11 years old.
Fulfilling rewards : For those who order books, I will request mailing addresses & child's name with Kickstarter’s survey system AFTER this project is successfully funded.
***Please Note: No backers will be charged until Mon, November 6 2017 5:32 PM CST
Honey in the Woods started as a writing challenge in a creative writing club back when I was in college. I wrote the story, showed it to an illustrator, and he came back with a prototype. Since then, I’ve began the publishing process by obtaining the copyright, ISBN#, created front and back covers, and I’m currently in the final editing & design stage.
At the time of conception, my daughter was much younger (maybe 6-yrs old), but she was-- and continues to be--a great source of inspiration. Now she is 11 and old enough to help with creative design, editing, website creation and social media set-ups. Seeing things go from an idea to manifestation has been a great experience for both of us.
We are committed to getting this book to as many kids, schools, homes, daycares and after-school programs because we're passionate about kids being unlimited in education. We believe that if schools aren’t requiring foreign language or cursive writing, then it’s up to the parents, family members and educators to include further instruction at home, at early an age as possible. Why wait until middle or high school when they can learn and retain a more in-depth education at a younger age?
Honey in the Woods is a great book for parent-child, sibling, and educator interaction. So join with me, and give the gift of education in a fun, interactive way.
Risks and challenges
There is no financial risk for the backer, but I do run a risk that this project will not raise the total amount requested. This is an all-or-nothing campaign, meaning that we must reach our goal to print the first 100 books or no funds will be processed to your bank or card, and none of the funds will be distributed towards the project. But with your help, I know we will reach our goal. I also run the risk of under-pricing the shipping cost. Because I don't have the actual book in hand, it is hard to specify the exact weight of the book including packaging. However, I have researched the media mail rates for domestic and international shipping, and come to a pretty safe estimate with hopes that my package will not exceed the weight and price estimates. If I underestimate these costs, this will be financially risky for me, but not the backers. I will still make sure they receive the book(s) on time for the price originally quoted within the reward.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
