The Story So Far
I've been writing worship songs for a number of years and using them within Ichthus Christian Fellowship where I oversee the worship life of the movement. My first two EPs, Invitation and Where I Am Free, have been well received, with a number of songs being taken up in other churches around the UK. Songwriting seems to come from the deepest creative urge in me, and since the release of those EPs, the ideas have continued to flow!
What's On The New Album?
The title of the album, Spring Rain, is taken from a prayerful, joyful song that we have started to use in Ichthus this year:
Also included: 'Still Small Voice', which can be heard on the Kickstarter promotional video; 'A Child Is Born', a reflection on the Christmas story; 'Rejoice My Soul', a setting of Philippians 4:4–8 with a considerable amount of bounce; 'Dance of Love', a Trinitarian reflection on the life of the church; 'When Healing Hands Were Wounded', a deep encapsulation of a great deal of revelation about the cross that I've experienced; 'Behold the Lion of Judah', about how God truly overcomes (clue: it's not how you think); and more, including a couple of refreshed and updated hymn arrangements!
What's The Funding For?
The Kickstarter funding is what I need to be able to pay the upfront costs of studio hours, artwork, audio mastering and CD replication. Without your support, these things won't happen! Crowdfunding is a fabulous way to make this happen, with the money from pre-orders going straight into production. I can't do this without you!
How Long Will It Take To Complete?
From this point (late August) I am anticipating a turnaround time of 2–3 months – plenty enough time for me to finish the recording process (which is over halfway done at time of writing), mix everything and send it off for mastering, before sending the audio master together with the artwork to the CD replicators. In short – there's a strong likelihood it'll be with you before Christmas! I'll be keeping people posted on progress via my blog, Twitter and my email list.
Risks and challenges
One of the main risks of course, is everything taking longer than expected. If you're hoping for a guaranteed pre-Christmas deadline, I cannot with 100% certainty state that this will be a given; only that having produced a few EPs now, I have a better idea of the timescale needed for certain processes, also taking into account the rest of my work schedule. The album is halfway tracked already, and with everything else also in place to finish tracking by the end of August; the remaining processes are simply a matter of time and a bit of administration, but are less taxing as far as the workload is concerned. Orders will be fulfilled MOST LIKELY towards the end of November, but if it's a later date, nevertheless, they will be fulfilled!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
