99% of Cases Shipped & Other details

Hello Backers,

Thanks for your continued patience and support throughout the last phase of this project. 

As messaged during our last shipment update we received the rest of the i+Cases during the first week of January. We labeled, packed and shipped 99% of the ~1000 remaining cases at this time.  

We know some people are having signal issues.  The team had done some exploration in December to see if we could minimize any signal issues, see Update 23, and were not able to come up with a viable solution for our First Edition case. That's why it was decided to ship the rest of the cases to the backers as originally promised at the start of the project. 

The team is currently investing in a ground-up redesign that we hope addresses the signaling issues for version two of the i+Case.  When we complete this version you'll be the first to know. We will be offering a discount to all KickStarter backers IF this second version of the i+Case comes to market.  

When we started this project we knew that there were going to be some signal issues, we stated that up front as known risk with ALL completely metal cases.    We had made this risk very clear and felt that the backers understood this risk, since we called it out and tried to address it the best we could. It's important to reiterate this point to remind people that this isn't something we were ever trying to hide and still don't completely understand.

The team here considers this KickStarter project coming to a close. We delivered what we promised to deliver and are happy with how the design turned out.   Now we need to iron out the kinks for the next version.

I'm sure there will be questions and comments that come up and we'll do our best to be as responsive as we can.  However, our primary focus will be on designing and developing version two of the i+Case that will encompass the great design that has little or no effect on the phones signal. 

Without your help we wouldn't be where we are today and wouldn't be able to continue to try and improve on the design.

      I have received it pretty quick (Switzerland). But Now I'm not receiving signal anymore...
      Too bad. Sooooo nice and soooo cool case (Even in the Appstore here in Geneva they where crasy about it ;-), but such a bad signal reception that I had to dismount it.
      I hope you can do somthing about it...

      Finally got my cases last week and been using them on my iphone 4 and my wife's iPhone 4s since then. Design wise and finishing wise I give the product a perfect 10 as it is amazing look wise and feel wise and I have had people asking me where I got the cases from?

      Unfortunately performance wise the case gets a zero as both iPhones face severe signal loss when inside the house, Infact we get no service inside the house, but when outside the phones face no signal issues. I have tried putting electrical tapes on the sides of the phone to see if it would help resolve the signal issue but that even did not do the job.

      I loved the cases an would be interested in buying them again once the signal loss issue has been resolved.

      Jason, thanks once again for the help in ensuring that I get my cases down here in Pakistan. Like they say "better late than never"

      And walking around the house i now notice that in some places where i normally used to get a solid 5 bars) it is as low as only one bar with the cars on ! I am very unhappy with that - a 1 or 2 bar loss in signal is (possibly) acceptable, but this is ridiculous!

      Anyone want 2 cases! I think eBay is going to be flooded with these things - what a pity, poor execution of what is basically a beautiful design

      Just received my 2 cases here in Australia - they are awesome - the design is flawless and the logo not as intrusive as I was expecting - i am absolutely stoked at how beautiful it is - i really, really like it - that's the good news

      Now for the not so good news :(

      My reception is absolutely terrible with the case on - I am with Telstra which is the "leading" telco here with the "superstrong" reception almost anywhere in the country - I have dropped from an almost constant 5 bars down to 2 bars with the case on :(

      I am so disappointed - basically it renders the case not usable - beautiful, but totally useless - is it possible to make the same design out of some kind of reception friendly plastic ?

      I did appreciate that reception might drop - but didn't expect it too be so bad - I feel very sorry for any Aussie that bought this case and is with any of the other telcos - they will be totally wasted !

      Great, great design, well made, good quality construction etc , but should have had MUCH more testing in regards to reception issues

      Very disappointed overall :(

      Just received my case and it looks great! Seems though that my silent button doesn't fit snug and can only be left on vibrate mode. Not sure if this is a common problem, or I am just an unlucky one that received a mis-shapped case :( . Pretty sure I followed the instructions to the letter ... have been fiddling this thing for about 90mins and still cant get it to sit right... can anyone help me?

      Just received mine today... And it is simply GORGEOUS!!! But like others, I had signal issues too... From 5 bars dropped to 3 bars... Can't complain much though considering others who completely lost signal... But I love it... If only it doesn't cause any signal issues, this would simply the best iphone case ever. If anyone find a way to reduce/improve the signal issues, do share :-)

      Really surprised that I cant find more if not any comments about the inability to use most if not all headphones with the case on which is massive for me. Not sure what headphones or 3.5mm cord it its specked for but this is extremely limiting. Time to break out the dremel.

      Received my cases (in the northeast) around the 17th, about a week after saying they shipped. Fit is fantastic I have the red one on now and have seen little or no change in signal strength. Carrier is sprint and at my home I've always had poor service. If I had any real drop as described by some I would have no service. Looks like the red anodizing may not hold up well with use as I already have some silver nicks but I have the silver and black also so will just change out if it gets too bad. Love it though. Great job.

      I've got the tracking number from i+case after my post here and several private messages only. It is customs label number, not real tracking. According this number and USPS site my cases were sent 17.01 !!! from Seattle. I hope the shipment will be at end Jan.- early Feb. Good luck

      Received mine and assembled immediately. Love the design and buttons function well. I too do not expect a reply from Jason, however I must say I had no idea that the case would actually diminish my signal. I have serious signal loss. Can't receive calls at home any more. We're we really warned about this? I believed I was supporting a technical design team. This result is really inexcusable. What about protoype design testing? Any body want to buy mine?

      Received mine today. I have AT&T iPhone 4, and tested right away with i+Case. The result was.... unfortunately, "no service." I had full 4 bars, and it started to drop, and then it reached no service.

      I agree with Rob here. I'd you can't provide individual backers with tracking numbers then say so because whenever a backer has asked for them all I see you guys do is beat around the bush in your replies and not provide any tracking details. I'm in Pakistan and have yet to receive my i+cases. Honestly what worries me is being part of the 1% that might get kicked back or missed out by you guys here and there.

      Whilst I understand you rightly assuming information from USPS is correct, the issue mentioned still remains. I will again highlight the point I made in the earlier post, customers from Australia and potentially other countries have the ability to track the order. Your response did not answer if you would indeed provide tracking numbers to those who have asked for them. Judging by other posts, in particular the recent post by Dmitry, you are unwilling to provide this information. This again goes to the very heart of the customer service issue a great many of your customers (I do not like the word backer as we are indeed customers of yours) have complained about. If you do not have the ability to provide tracking numbers to individual backers (for whatever resaon), say so, apologise and speak to USPS about how to match tracking numbers with customers, and convey this information. If you have the ability to provide the tracking numbers, then your arrogance is baffling is leads me to believe you are hiding something (the 1% perhaps).
      Engaging the customer in the shipping trail removes the unkown, alleviating the discontent many feel. I ask you agian, could you please provide the tracking numbers to people that have asked?

      Appfreak has also highlighted how a well designed product can be tainted so badly by poor customer service, that it renders it unusable. Philip Kotler is an author that should be high on you to read list.

      Only to say that I received my case today in London, UK. The USPS label says January 12 if that helps anyone.

      The case itself if very nice, fits perfectly, super light although the buttons are just hanging there. Fortunately I haven't experienced any visible signal loss (I'm only looking at the bars, I unpacked the case 30 min ago).

      I'll probably blog my experience with it after some days of use and then gift it to the readers. I like the design but it just feels bulkier than my current one. It also reminds me of the appalling customer service received - I can't bear to see it everyday or even the thought of people asking me about it and remember how this project has been managed.

      Just received my case (Canada) and it looks beautiful except for the huge signal drop after putting it on. Went from full bars (Rogers 3G, right by York University) to 1 and couldn't connect to the network anymore..

      @Rob I'm just relaying what the USPS told me when I asked them if there's any way to track the package after it left the US. It's good to see some countries take over the tracking of the package. Perhaps most countries don't pick up the tracking like Australia.

      Your statement regarding USPS tracking ceasing at the US border is not entirely true. In Australia, our postal service (Australia Post) takes over the responsibility of delivery and can be tracked via their website using the USPS tracking number. I have done this many times using the USPS tracking number kindly (and rightfully) supplied by the shipper. For the record I have not received my case yet. As you have everyone's email address and in the interest to customer satisfaction, sending USPS tracking numbers would be a helpful endeavour indeed.
