About this project

The overall creative focal point for this documentary

We are going to create a documentary that will feature and show historical reenactments between stories and interviews.  There has never been a movie featuring Haitian actors for national exposure and release.  The language will be in English to feel the emotion of all situations confronted to relate to western audiences.  For example one our first reminiscent scenes, we will create and tell the story of the first abuse from the Haitian revolution of Ezili Danto.  She decided to join her people in war for independence. Her people feared that she would give away their secrets should she be captured, so - her own people - cut out her tongue rendering her mute.  She is now worshiped in Haitian folklore as a hero, however her abuse was known and continues until this day.  There will be many re creative scenes thorough the documentary that show in conjunction of the stories and history of abuse.  This will be a challenge because there has never been a creative story telling documentary, featuring Haiti, at this level.

The Project

The documentary will entail the history of the Haitian people and the exploitation from the western foreign powers to keep Haiti and the Haitian people in an underdeveloped state. This documentary will expose first hand accounts of the torture and rape of women, girls and boys by foreigners and the UN occupation.  A brief history of the western backed despotic leaders or Haiti.  The current conspiracy to keep Haiti underdeveloped to exploit the poor people in Haiti, which has the largest effect on the women and children.

I will be getting candid footage talking live to current citizens living inside of Haiti,  I will also be interviewing Haitian Americans in the USA that have been granted political asylum.  There will be many first hand stories from women and children about the physical, mental, forced starvation, lack of basic medical care and sexual exploitation straight from the victims. There will be well documented file and news footage to back up the stories and testimony that will be documented in this documentary.  The experts used in this explosive documentary will be the first hand accounts of the witnesses that will give statements about the exploitation in this hard hitting and truthful documentary.

The main characters in this documentary are the Haitian victims.  Haiti is the oldest Black republic in the western hemisphere. This act is one of the reasons for its current condition.  Haiti was forced to give France 90 Million dollars in gold to recognize its independence in 1825.  The loans  it had to make for this act of extortion has crippled Haiti until this day and contributes to to exploitation of its citizens, especially the women and children.

The amount of $12,000 would be used for a crew of 4 plus myself to travel to various locations in Haiti and the US to conduct interviews, film footage and pay for professional film quality editing for distribution to audiences in the US and world wide in different languages.  The funds would be used for professional editing and marketing for this project also.  I want this to be like the Michael Moore documentary film "Roger and Me."

Risks and challenges

There have been several interviews conducted already and they are riveting. I have to stay one step of the the Haitian government and local gangs which threaten myself and crew with robbery, jail and even death for the information this film is obtaining. After the project is funded there would be a need to build interest for a movie of this type because it is not an entertainment film. There will be some heavy marketing strategies to progressive colleges and universities that have shown support for Haiti in the past.
