I am third generation Flamenco dancer whose dance studies have also been in Ballet, Modern, and Jazz. My family tradition, culture, and passion for dance runs deep in my veins and what better way to express this passion but to fuse my Flamenco family tradition and love for contemporary dance movement together. I have began to breakdown the rhtyhm of Alegrias the dance of joy, breaking apart the structure of the dance to create 5 individual pieces made up of song, dance, and music. Challenging the Flamenco Dancers to step out of their comfort zone and challenging contemporary dancers to find the Duende "spirit" within them. Through the collaboration of artists the evenings performance will be to remember and make a mark in the culture of San Antonio
Funds will be utilized for the collaboration of musicians, singer, costumes, and dancers.
Risks and challenges
My risks are dancers not costumed correctly for the movement being performed, the money that is raised will be used to hire a costume designer and seamstress who are qualified to produce well fitting costumes. Live music is a necessity for the production and movement. Staying within the traditions of Flamenco and using musicians and singers will enhance the production and the quality of sound on stage for the dancers and the audience. All collaborating artists have a strong history with me and want this project to succeed not only for the choreography to be presented in the highest quality but for the opportunity to be a part of something innovative in San Antonio.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
