Big Seat Studios, a team comprised of two teenagers from the midwest, is proud to present our debut title: Chicken Hero. After months of learning how to program and create pixel art, we have finally decided now is the time to ask the Kickstarter community to help us in completing our dream.
Chicken Hero is a pixel puzzle platformer based around a chicken’s quest to reclaim his stolen eggs. Our protagonist, Chicken Phil, loves his family above all and will stop at nothing to save what he put into this world. Guide him through his journey of loss, redemption, and justice.
Chicken Hero will be available on PC/Mac and iOS if successfully funded.
The mechanics within Chicken Hero are inspired by those in other famous pixel platformers, as well as a few spicy gameplay aspects unique to our game. Some of the mechanics that we can discuss now include picking up and using crates for puzzles, switching between the chicken and the egg, different costumes for both the characters, and a system that includes different mechanics depending on what time it is in game and where you are in the game world.
This final step of our long and grueling game creation project is crucial. If we, and most importantly you, want to see our game come to complete fruition, our goal of $800 is 100% needed. This $800 will cover the bare minimum for distributing our game and will be broken down as such:
44% - Software/Licensing Fees
28% - Booth at Indy PopCon
20% - Fill rewards
5 - 8% - Kickstarter Fees
For every reward that has either a t-shirt or a poster listed, you will be getting one of these items:
As Big Seat Studios, we are making this game because of the joy we get out of creating something to share with the world. The sole purpose of this campaign is to make our game accessible to as many people as possible. We are two high school teenagers that are just passionate about video games and our intent is not to make money.
We will not pocket any of this money.
That being said, if we were to surpass our $800 goal we will announce our stretch goals as we move forward.
Risks and challenges
Every crowdfunded project always runs the risk of not delivering on the promises made in the campaign. However, we have already invested several weeks into making our demo and are currently on track to meet our own deadlines.
Once we are funded, we will work to make sure every backer receives their rewards. Although we have done our research, it will be a new experience for us trying to ship all of the rewards. We will be sure to keep people updated on our progress after the Kickstarter campaign has ended.
Our biggest challenge might come with getting over funded, if that occurs. While it is a good problem to have, we will have to come up with new rewards for our backers, for we have a limited supply of physical items to give out.
