About

What is a Fightstick?

A fightstick is a multi console controller designed after the arcade layout of the 1980's; they are particularly useful for fighting games as the controls are faster to push and more responsive than today's standard controller. The vast majority of competitive fighting game players use them at tournaments all over the world. Fightsticks can be used for other games as well, though they typically do not have a second analog stick/joystick.

Our Prototypes

Our first fully functional prototype is an oak box, as this type of wood is quite sturdy, and also has a very distinctive color.  It's sides and bottom are made with wood pieces joined together with a box joint, which leaves each piece of wood interlocked with a smooth edge. The select and start buttons are situated in the front of the box (counter sunk into the wood to prevent accidental bumping), and a neurotik port for multi console connections.  The top of the box is made with two sheets of plexi glass and holds the buttons on top of the first layer of plexi, and flush with the second layer.  What's nice about the dual layers of plexi glass is that artwork can be placed between each layer, and it allows for flexibility during use.

While we really liked several features of the first box, we needed to make some adjustments with spacing of the buttons in the front of the box; we also had some difficulty with selecting the right thickness of the plexi glass to ensure durability and flexibility while making sure that it does not interfere with pressing the buttons during use.

With the new adjustments in mind, our second prototype was made.  We liked the look and feel of Oak, but this time, we chose experiment with maple because of it's incredibly smooth texture. We corrected the front button spacing issue that we had with the first prototype, and added wood behind what was the second layer of plex glass to improve the strength of the top, while still allowing space to display artwork.

These two prototypes turned out wonderfully, thanks to our great carpenter, but we hope to create a third prototype with additional modifications to ensure that we provide only quality product to our backers and/or prospective customers.

What We're Working on Now

We are working on the modifications for the third and final traditional fightstick, as well as creating unique designs for fightstick items such as wooden ball tops, a lunchbox style fightstick, and a fightstick table. We are constantly researching and improving upon the designs for this project, but we need your support to help us achieve these goals!  Your contributions will go directly towards making all them a reality.

Risks and challenges

Risk- more demand then what we can fulfill right away. We will work to bring more people on board to get the rewards out to backers as soon as possible. If worse comes to worst we may have to stagger shipments.

Challenge #1- Making the boxes in an efficient manner and limiting the amounts of productions errors. We have a good team of carpenters, who are unwilling to put out a less than perfect product.

Challenge #2- Coming up with designs for potential expanded cases and novelty designs. With our skilled woodworking team, our creative mind, and a little AutoCAD nothing is impossible.

Challenge #3- Zig Zag forward Heavy punch to dash canceled Super level 2.
