---
The Heavy Collective believes firmly in printed matter and the vitally important role it plays in being a vehicle for transmission. We look at publishing from a place of necessity, integral to photographic literacy.
Volume II is a pairing of images and text. A conversation between Photographer and viewer, writer and reader. Starting out of the blocks in 2015 with the release of Volume I, II pushes the dialogue further, putting photographer and writer face to face, landing firmly at the confluence of where images are made and how they are read.
Although Heavy will always have a life online, we feel its high time to move the operation into bricks and mortar publishing for good, to promote tradition and keep craft alive, fly the flag for Australian made imprints.
This is all about making Heavy Volume II look and feel every bit as powerful as the content within, incredible photographs should have an incredible home, help us make Volume II be all it can be and secure Heavy's future in publishing. We've come leaps and bounds from putting together our first and although it will be published yearly we want you to have the Heavy Volumes for a life time, that it should live long and stand proud on your bookshelf.
This is our main drive, our main focus, to do this every year. To bring you a much heavier book; more content, more photos, more features. And all of this means... more money.
Why we need this money —
We can't thank you enough for successfully funding Volume I, we're happy to report that it's close to selling out, earned its keep, and made it's money back. Every cent has been used to sink into Volume II, only this time its going to cost twice as much.
Why so much you ask? The reason lies in all the pretty things like Lay flat binding, Duotone process for black and white printing, finer quality paper stocks, debossing and duplex cover features. As much as we would have liked Volume One to fund our next venture, we have bigger ambitions and are striving for quality.
The Heavy Collective is operated in the coffee breaks, train rides home and Saturday nights when we would rather be out with friends, and funded by the pay checks of our not so photographic day jobs, so any assistance in keeping this Heavy engine rolling is a huge help and greatly appreciated.
For you it's getting your foot in the door early, for us it's getting the book over the line.
Rewards —

Kind words on Volume One —
How the funds will be used —
Heavy Volume II is designed, edited, proofed and ready to be sent to the printers for a November 2016 release date, we just need a little shove to get this thing across the finish line. The entirety of this project is handled in house while collaborating directly with the artists and writers involved, Heavy does not outsource any elements of the design or editing and every cent of the funding from this campaign will go directly to the physical production of the book.
We understand not everyone is able to donate, but you can help us spread the word by sharing this campaign around the web and on social media, sharing is caring and it's just as valuable. Thanks! from the whole Heavy collective team.
