The Video was totally home made. I admit it is not the best quality, but everything in it is from the heart. Neither Laurie or
I will ever be actors, we are really amateurs. I wanted to convey many things in this video: my love of live sound, teaching people about this craft, helping to develop their skills, seeing their reaction when they really understand and watching as they begin to absorb my ideas and develop their own – it is like a beautiful flower opening. Helping people to develop the passion that I have for live music is what I imagine to be my ultimate goal.
Just today I had a conversation with a mother of a seventeen year old boy. She told me that she did not think her son would be a good candidate for college. He did, however, have a talent for taking apart the stereo in the house and re-configuring it. She told me that he marched to the beat of a different drummer. These are some of the students that I want to help.
I hope to be able to make this school affordable and attractive to students who have the desire to learn about live music and all aspects of bringing music to people all over the world. I dream of being able to teach what I know, share my passion and inspire that same emotion in others.
A note from my Brother about my Passion for this:
We have spoken more then once about your Passion for sound and music. Passion- wanting to share what you do with others, feeling totally satisfied on the inside with what you are doing and wanting to scream it from the rooftops. To creative people its hard to get started and follow their passion. For one thing the passion route may be more rewarding, but it is much harder to follow. You know this as all others that have actually done it in life. There are sacrifices, sometimes many, but it is achievable.
You never gave up on your passion for a smarter, safe path. You figured out that the smart, safe career would not give you happiness.
You live your passion and have shown me your world a few times.
I cannot tell you the feelings of those brief moments just being with you at some of those shows, you gave me something that can never be replaced. Standing on the stage and for one brief moment....Most people do not understand the feeling and can't imagine being able to live there Dream. You may not be offering what may seem like the "smart" career choice, but can actually be just that and can give so much more for those people that just seem to " March to the beat of a different drummer"
For over 30 years I have had the privilege of working with some of the biggest Bands in the world. I started my journey working for a little Dallas, Texas company called Showco. Some of the bands I toured with during my employment included: The Rolling Stones, George Michaels, Diana Ross, The Beach Boys, Ozzy Osborne/Ozzfest, Korn, Pantera, Eric Clapton, Genesis, Willie Nelson, Alanis Morrisette, Steve Winwood, Reba McIntyre, Vince Gill, Alan Jackson, Kiss.
Down the road in 2000 Clair Global, Lititz, PA purchased Showco and I would find myself touring extensively with: Bon Jovi, Destiny’s Child, Beyoncé, LMFAO, Alice Cooper, Green Day, Christina Aguilera, Boston, GodSmack, and The Who. In May of 2013 I had the opportunity to transition to Sound Image located in Nashville, TN which gave me the opportunity to mix Front of House for Ronnie Dunn & Monitors for Garth Brooks, Hunter Hayes and Kid Rock.
Sound Haven Learning Center is scheduled to open in late Spring 2014. Before the doors can open, the old dinosaur of a boiler needs to be replaced returning heated water to the pipes within the facility. Roof repairs and misc. maintenance must be addressed to ensure a comfortable and pleasing atmosphere for all that come to learn and be entertained.
The plan is to begin classes, teaching aspiring new sound technicians early this Summer. Within the course curriculum a new student will learn the basics of audio engineering: microphone/cable repair, power, fundamentals of sound - how fast sound travels etc. More advanced classes will be offering in-depth education into the digital audio world, preparing students for the live sound industry. Classes will be extended to churches and organizations in need of some Audio ABCs in addition to the normal student population.
Replace the Boilers, Repair the roof, revitalize the space.
The process of purchasing and installing the new high efficiency boilers is under way, three to be exact, we are referring to them as the 3 B's - Papa, Mama & Baby boiler. Work needs to be completed on multiple broken pipes throughout the building, a result of frigid temps and general neglect over time as the building has set empty for several years.
With your financial support, the launching of Sound Haven Learning Center will welcome future students, musical artists, and live audiences for years to come. Your contribution will help propel Sound Haven into motion. You will not only be helping us to realize our dream, but will be helping all of our students realize theirs

Risks and challenges
We received approvals and support from both the City of Lake Mills Planning Commission and City Council.
The primary risk is that our Grand Opening planned for later this Spring will be delayed.
With your support we are going to work hard and make it happen!
