Please "Like" Charlie's Gingerbread House on Facebook for project updates!
Welcome to my Kickstarter project! My name is Melissa Staehli, and I have written a wonderfully cute book for young children called "Charlie's Gingerbread House." This is actually my second book - the first being "I Love You to the Moon", also a book for young children. I Love you to the Moon has received great reviews for its sweet poetic lullaby and the beautiful illustrations. Here is a picture of my son and me when we received our first copy of the book:
Charlie's Gingerbread House is a short rhyming book about a mouse named Charlie who happens upon a gingerbread house and decides to go exploring. He has a wonderful time discovering all of the goodies inside! I was inspired to write this book by my son's hamster named Charlie. Well, "hamster" didn't rhyme with "house", so Charlie became a mouse!
My love for our adopted son (who is now 5) is the reason that I started writing children's books. Our son is the greatest gift that was ever given to me, and my first book was written specifically about the love I have for him. It started off as a poem that he and I would say to each other every day. After a short while, I realized that I wanted other people to be blessed with this poem. We finally decided to make it into a children's book that any loved one can read to a child. I am very proud of the final book. The illustrations are just gorgeous, making it a joy to look at and read. You can look at the website for I Love You to the Moon by clicking here. Please watch the video book trailer on the website and you will get an idea of how my son has impacted my life.
The short story is written and the cover art is done. The illustrations have been sketched but need to be completed. I have a fabulous illustrator who is prepped and ready to go with the illustrations! That is were Kickstarter comes in. All money that is raised will go directly towards the book - illustrations, marketing, publishing, printing & postage. Not to mention the extra goodies available! If I happen to go over the project amount, all extra money will go directly into printing more copies of the book. It would be nice to actually profit from my books someday, but for now, I simply want the joy of getting my books into the hands of people who will love reading them to children! Reading has been a part of my son's bedtime routine since the day he was born - he loves books and never wants to miss that time at night. I love the emails and thank you notes from people who read my first book to their children. That makes it all worth it!
Thank you so much for your interest in getting Charlie's Gingerbread House off the ground!
