Hello! For those who don't know me, my name is Molly Bauckham and I am a harpist/singer from Seattle, Washington. I'm in the early stages of creating my first album, and I hope you'll help me make it happen!
I've been singing for my entire life, and playing the harp for about thirteen years. A few years ago I started a YouTube channel, and I'm incredibly moved and flattered to report that my videos have collectively earned over one hundred thousand views! The response has been overwhelmingly positive and uplifting, and one thing people kept saying was, "Please make a CD! Please make a CD!" So, I'm finally getting off my 'okole, as the Hawaiians say, and doing it!
I'm drawn to story songs, whether they're traditional ballads, Shakespeare or Broadway showtunes. This album, tentatively titled "Maid on the Shore", is primarily made up of songs and tunes from Ireland, Scotland and England (with a few twists thrown in to keep things interesting!). It will mostly consist of harp and voice, but I've got some excellent musicians on board who will add their talents to several of the songs. I'm planning to go into the studio in July, so the album won't be ready until late summer. I'll post frequent updates to keep my backers (and anyone else who is interested!) up to date on our progress. The funding goal I've set will cover the studio costs of the album (recording, mixing and mastering); anything over the funding goal will help defray the costs of duplication and promotion. As always, remember that this is "all or nothing" funding--if I don't reach my goal in 90 days, no one who has pledged to my project will be charged. That makes your contribution that much more important and appreciated!
Now for the rewards! I've structured the Kickstarter rewards so that, if you like, you can basically pre-order the album; if you want to pledge more, however, I've got some higher-level rewards that are worth checking out!** Also, no matter what amount you pledge, you will receive a thank-you postcard from me, and your name will be listed on an acknowledgements page on my forthcoming website.
Thank you so much for your interest (and, hopefully, support!). I hope that, if you like what you've seen and heard here, you will pass it along to a friend!
(**Note: Performance/video rewards will have to take place after the album is released, as I'll have my hands full before then!)
