We're still alive!
Hello, It's been a long time! How about an update?
While we have obviously missed our 2018 release, we're still hard at work on Puzzle Depot. Please accept our apology for the lack of updates over the last few months, and allow us to show you some of what we've been up to in the meantime!
Lots of Progress, Lots of Polish
Puzzle Depot is in a much more complete state these days, and most of the pieces are in place! The World Editor is finished, and has also received some additional features and polish, providing an even better set of tools for building and testing puzzles.
Shown above is one of the editor's more advanced features: The ability to script "cutscenes", allowing you to direct NPCs (or even the player) in a variety of ways. NPCs can do many of the things the player can do, and can even be used as puzzle elements!
The UI, menus, and level map have also seen substantial improvements. Optional challenges are tracked more clearly on the pause screen, and maps for any floor on the current level can now be easily viewed.
At this point, the remaining development largely involves finishing and testing the remaining campaign levels. Out of twelve levels, there are five levels are fully complete, two that are nearly complete, and the rest are in varying stages of completion. Once we're a bit further along, we'll have a better idea of when we're looking at releasing... thanks for bearing with us!
There's already a lot to explore in the world of Puzzle Depot, and it's been difficult not to spoil some of the surprises! Each campaign level includes optional goals, lore to discover, and secrets to find. The design has been a significant challenge, but we're pleased with what we've come up with and hope you will be, too!
We were able to show Puzzle Depot at a number of conventions and events in 2018 and gathered a lot of feedback. The response was very positive, and we even received an award for Best Art at the Intel Buzz Workshop! We also showed at RTX in Austin, by far our biggest convention to date.
Although our focus is on completing development, we're also looking at attending more conventions later in 2019. In particular we would like to return to RTX this year if possible.
once again, for the support and patience.
Stay tuned for more updates!
