Puzzle Depot at SIX, new demo, and more!
Hello, puzzle people! It's been a while since we've checked in! There's been a lot going on, so let's jump right in...
We will be showing the latest version of Puzzle Depot at the Seattle Indies Expo this Sunday, September 3rd! If you live in the area or you're visiting for PAX West, please check it out! Attendance is completely free and we'd love to see you there!
We will also be appearing at the Seattle Maker Faire on September 16th-17th! Described as "a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness", we plan on showing off what creative things Puzzle Depot's world editor can do. Come check it out and let your inner mad-scientist loose!
The build we are showing at these conventions features a entirely different map from the standard demo (originally entitled the 'Forsaken Valley' map, mentioned in an earlier update). We will be making this special demo available for backers to download after the dust has settled from PAX, as a way of thanking you for your continued patience and support. This large map features many alternate paths, and some new objects to discover.
New Mechanics and Features
One of the last big hurdles for us was implementing interactions between the player and the various eccentric characters which inhabit the world of Puzzle Depot. The World Editor now fully supports this, allowing creators to script out cutscenes, move characters around, and more. Here is just one example of what can be done:
Some dangerous new objects have been added since the last time we updated! Megaroaches may look fearsome, but even they cannot resist the destructive potential of these Autoturrets:
The Demo has been Updated!
The demo was really starting to show its age, so we've updated it to the current version! The experience has been enhanced all-around, with improved performance, bug fixes, additional options, and updated graphics and audio. In addition, the level itself features some small improvements, such as reworked character dialogue and some tweaks to the level design. Give it a peek, we'd love to hear what you think!
Did you miss the Puzzle Pack?
As a reminder, we have released the Kickstarter Puzzle Pack for backers at the relevant reward tiers. This features 30 days worth of puzzles from our Kickstarter event (plus the dreaded "bonus" room). These are some hard-as-nails puzzles, so it's bound to keep you busy! If you missed your download link, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll make sure to hook you up.
Development has been accelerating rapidly, and we are on track for release before the end of the year! It's been a long journey, but there's light at the end of the tunnel. We're not quite ready to announce a formal release date just yet, so please bear with us just a bit longer.
Thank you, and we'll have more puzzle goodness for you soon!
