The Isopede Update
As development continues, Puzzle Depot's complex ecosystem is really coming together. This update is all about one group of creatures making it's return from Depot Dungeons... Isopedes!
Puzzle Depot's isopedes are based on real-world arthropods, such as the common pill-bug and the extinct (but awesome) Arthropleura. These gargantuan bugs are harmless bottom-feeders with an unusual diet; They crave radioactive materials, most especially the ubiquitous green ooze commonly found around the Depot! How they are able to draw any nutrition from this industrial byproduct, let alone survive eating it, is something of a mystery.
Isopedes have no natural predators due to their armored carapace, tendency to travel in herds, and noxious diet. They show no fear of humans, and unlike roaches will make no effort to get out of your way. If you can get behind an isopede and give it a good shove, however, it'll encourage them to move along.
A swift kick will cause an isopede to roll into a ball... don't worry, it won't hurt it! Once enrolled you can more easily move it around, though it will no longer feed on ooze.
Ironpedes are far more territorial than isopedes, and will shove any creature that walks directly in front of them. While this doesn't cause any direct damage, it can easily put you in harm's way. Heavily armored, ironpedes cannot roll into a ball like their more docile cousins.
Puzzles with isopedes and ironpedes largely involve using their behaviors to deal with other, more dangerous obstacles. Incredibly versatile, this family of creatures has quickly become one of our favorites!
The 21st of this month will be the anniversary of the end of our kickstarter! We have an update planned for that day with some more news and a sneak peek of things to come. It's hard to believe it's almost been a year!
Thank you again everyone for your continued support!
