Yu Ando, one of our happy backers from japan, asked what exactly the 'vegan leather' is made of.
A good question, significant enough to share the answer with you all:
It's hard to find a leather that isn't made out of animals but sustains the forces like real leather! Most of the leather-like-fabrics on market are based on plastics, do not resists anything or simple have no substance. One day we've been called by a manufacturer of a new interesting material! They send over some samples. Looked and felt ver good so i made a prototype of it.
I've been inline skating and this prototype was in the backpocket of my pants. Regrettably, I almost fell and the rough asphalt grinded the wrap several meters under pressure. When I saw, how the material got along with it, I knew we had found our vegan leather! It's based on cellulose and a refinement with latex makes it resistant against water and abration.
