GenCon! New Fiction Stretch Goals!

Posted by Chris Pramas: Green Ronin Publishing (Creator)

Hello backers!

It’s day 3 of GenCon and as always it’s been hectic but awesome. We’ve been selling printed copies of The Expanse RPG Quickstart and running demos every day. Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck are special guests of the convention and they’ve been doing panels and signings. Tonight they joined Steve Kenson and I to talk about the RPG.

We recorded the seminar and we’ll be uploading it after the convention so you can all enjoy it. The big news we announced there was the addition of two new amazing stretch goals.

$300,000: We will add a new flash fiction reward tier. Imagine if you could have Daniel and Ty write a one page story about your Expanse RPG character. A select number of backers will be able to do just that if we unlock this stretch goal. All backers who pledge $30 or more will get a PDF of these stories for free!

$400,000: The big enchilada! If we unlock this stretch goal, Ty and Daniel will write a brand new Expanse short story for the rulebook. It will be set in the period between Leviathan Wakes and Caliban’s War (the timeframe of our core rulebook) and feature new characters. How awesome is that?

I’ll be back with more updates after GenCon. In the meantime, let’s push for those stretch goals!

New slash fiction? OH! Flash fiction! Sorry, mind in the gutter. :D

That's great to hear Mr. Wilson!

      Looking forward to it :)

More strech goals will be added that are RPG related. But, the entire company is at Gen Con, working 12 hour days, and we're away from our normal computers. We did want to announce these ASAP, since we did a panel on the game while at Gen Con.

This is gonna sound rude, but that's the only way I know how to put this.

We all love the books. We all love reading the books.

But we're not buying this to read more books. We're buying this to RP in the Expanse setting.

More RPG related goals would have been better, IMHO.

(also, a 100k jump in goals is a bit harsh)

Exactly what Albert said. Can't agree more.

Thse stretch goals are somewhat disappointing. We all love James S.A. Corey writing here, and more The Expanse is always good, but as a stretch goal for a RPG crowdfunding I was expecting more RPG material. More ships, more Star Helix, more outposts detailed, more adventures, etc...

Besides, the 300k stretch is fine, but a $100k jump for the next one will not likely attract new backers with the hopes of getting more content for their game.

Let's hope besides these stretch goals there will be some al 225k, 250k and 275k with RPG content,

Will we be able to get ebook versions of the stories (both 1 page character pieces and if we get to 400k) for those of use who love reading the expanse on our kindles/kobos/etc?
