Gameplay Preview (Update#2)
Defend the Fawkin Station is a game which features hectic twitch style game-play. Some strategic elements are added into the mix so the game can be tailored to the player's play style. The game is based on a simple idea: you are the commander of a station which orbits a planet by means of an orbital ring. Your mission is to defend the station (and the helpless people on the planet below) from an invasion fleet.
The progression of the game will happen through stages, each featuring new challenges, tougher and smarter enemies, and unique boss fights. By acquiring tech left behind by the enemies you destroy, you will be able to upgrade the stations systems and defenses. The ability to construct and upgrade several defensive units, to aid you in your mission, can also be unlocked through the acquisition of alien tech.
You might be wondering about the name...
We wanted to create a game which featured a mixture of several genres in ways we hadn't seen before, specially in mobile phones and tablets. The game had to be fun, hectic, strategic, and have great replayability. We have seen our good share of games. We wanted to see a game that combined player accuracy, strategy, and tower defense elements, and mix all that in a fun sci-fi space setting.

Who is Work in Motion Studios?
Work in Motion Studios is a small CG visual effects and digital production company based in Puerto Rico. We are composed of local CG artist and programmers and have recently moved into game production. We have worked on a multitude of diverse projects ranging from film, TV, commercials, advertisement and video games, plus all members of Work in Motion Studios have taught video game design at a local university. The companies founding members have a diverse background in CG, concept art, matte painting, 3D asset creation, storytelling, and production. Most recently we have added a programmer into our team as an asset for creating advert gaming, but have found that we share a passion for games.

As a young, up an coming, indie developer there are many things we have been able to accomplish on our own. Actually the reason why this game project came about was an accomplishment we are very proud of. A few months ago, we were invited to participate in a 32 hour game jam, in which teams were to produce a complete game in that period of time. With a bit of effort (and tons of coffee), we were able to have a finished game, which in turn became the prototype for this project. We were so excited about the results, we felt we had a good opportunity to put the project on Kickstarter.
Besides having a kick-ass team to work with, there are a couple of things we can use your help with. In order to publish our game we need to purchase the development licenses for unity and the licenses to export to both iOS and Android. Even though Work in Motion Studios does contract work, through which we pay the bills, all of the funds collected through Kickstarter will be put into the completion of this project (game art, music, sound design, etc). Any additional funds collected past our initial goal will allow us to bring more people on board and produce even more content for the game!

This is Work in Motion Studios first game and we want to see how enthusiastic the public is to see our game to completion. We have many plans for expanding the game, but as of now we are working on releasing the base version. We have established a series of goals that will unlock features that we would like to incorporate into the game. Some of these include single player and multiplayer game modes. So get to backing cadets and let's make General Fawkin proud!
Risks and challenges
Some of the potential risks and challenges we face is getting our project known by the public. As a small studio we are constantly doing our best to get the word out for our project. Already we are creating buzz locally in Puerto Rico and through the use of social media and industry websites we hope to create greater brand awareness. It will help for our backers to spread the word, so please tell others about Defend the Fawking Station.
But that is the challenge after all. As our first official stand alone game we are committed to finishing it and being on time for our release window that would be late February, early March. With the help from this Kickstarter we are hoping to collect enough funds so that we can concentrate on completing the project or hiring some additional talent to pitch in.
Work in Motion Studios is committed to supporting the local indie game community. We have a couple projects in different development stages that will require slightly bigger teams to finish and our goal is to establish a brand of fun indie games.
