Full Release
Windows and Mac versions will be released first, and later on Linux and hopefully Xbox One. We plan to release the Windows and Mac version first with Linux following close thereafter and later on XBox One.
Early Access
Early Access will be released on Steam only. Early Access will be available for Windows initially, and we will try to add Mac support later. We are considering Linux for Early Access but that we cannot confirm just yet.
The Salvation of a Kingdom.
A land in ruins, shattered by decades of war and despair. The people of the land was poor and without fortune. Food, clean water and hope was running thin. One day a visitor came to the kingdom, offering salvation. The people were shown miracles, given access to clean water and plenty of food. Law and order was restored and the people were healthier than ever. The visitor soon became exalted in the people’s eyes and they started to worship him for his deeds. However, at the same time rumors were coming in of strange things happening throughout the land. Terrible things.
Heroes Emerge.
The surrounding kingdoms who had been ignoring their starving neighbor for generations now noticed that they were on the rise. They also noticed eerie creatures lurking near their borders. Over several years, the creatures grew in numbers and the kingdoms realized that this had to be investigated. They sent out scouts and soldiers, but none of them ever returned to tell any news. As time passed, the sightings of the creatures became more and more frequent. It seemed like an inevitable demise was drawing close. The grand elders sent word to the kings of an old prophecy, of a gifted few able to fend off the darkness. The royal seekers were deployed to search the land for the legendary heroes - the ones known as Bell Ringers.
Bell Ringer.
The Bell Ringer is often a normal citizen and an unlikely hero, called upon by kings for their special ability - the power of immortality. With very limited training and experience they are sent out to seek out more knowledge about the dark powers before they destroy our world.
The bread and butter of Bell Ringer. The combat system is designed to be intricate and deep with inspiration from fighting games where specific inputs and combos are in focus. With a variety of weapons, all with different move-sets, we strive to create a very challenging and fun combat experience!

Our ambition is to create a compelling and consistent 2.5D platforming random world generator. In our minds it's a great combination since we LOVE some good platforming and we also love the concept of randomly generated worlds! It makes the game so much more fun and gives an incentive to play the game again and again since every new playthrough is a new experience.
Our item generator is used to create a huge variety of items to equip on your character. Armor and weapons with different damage types, trinkets with several mystic effects and several item rarities are planned ranging from common to unique items.
Create, name and modify your items in both cosmetic and gameplay affecting ways. Create your own weapons, transfer affixes between armors and creating items to take you to different dimensions!
There is a lot of exploring to do in Bell Ringer. Go through several biomes with different looks and dynamic transitions. Each biome has one boss for you to conquer which will get you what you need to reach the next area. Every pathway matters, whatever route you pick will either get you to your next objective or hidden treasures so you never hit a dead end without gain.
We aim to have a big and plentiful character customization with tons of unlockable content for your character. In Bell Ringer we won’t have a class system - the character evolves as you play, by using different weapons and magic. If you want to be a barbarian, pick up a two-handed axe and start swinging. Want to be a magical barbaric fighter mage? Just pick up a spell book and start throwing spells!
It's dangerous to go alone, so bring some friends! Endure the grim world of Bell Ringer with our 4 player online co-op mode. But beware, teamwork is necessary because the more players, the harder it gets!
Night Node Software was founded in November 2013 by former colleagues Rasmus Bergström, Mohammed Al-hasnawi, Joakim Clysén and Anton Lindén. At their former employment the four colleagues had little to no influence on what games should be created or how they should play. They developed games that they were not proud of and left the guys with the feeling that this is not what they are supposed to do. This left them unsatisfied! Their fingers were itching to create the games of their dreams which they could proudly put their name on - so they decided to leave and start their own adventure! With very little money in their pockets they started Night Node Software in Anton’s living room. Using Anton’s kitchen table they started working on their first title, Orbital Gear which was released in August 2014.
We have already heavily funded the project with the funds from our previous game and eating table scraps. But unfortunately it’s not enough for the last stretch to complete the game. That’s why we are asking the Kickstarter community to help us complete this game. The money we raise will go towards development, graphics, sound and music. We will also hire help in key areas to make sure the game will holds up to the highest quality possible. Should we exceed our target goal we will be able to squeeze more content into the game, things like making the item generator and world generator better so that they can expand the world even more, packing the game with even more content. If this should this get crazy and exceed our wildest imagination we will then go forward and take out an industry standard salary, and you will help us to become human beings again. We will also hire more people to create more content and polish.
We know our weaknesses and we don’t want to promise anything that we can’t deliver and that’s why our rewards are mostly digital. We don’t see this as an e-commerce site and we want to spend our time creating a great game, not packaging items for shipment. We have seen that these kind of things can get out of hand so our main focus will be on delivering a solid game. With that said we want to give our backers valuable rewards that will emerge them in the Bell Ringer universe.

Risks and challenges
It’s never easy to take on the challenge to make a game and release it - that much we know. But since we have worked with each other in the past and learned a lot over the years we should be able to handle the big issues that always seem to sneak it's way into game development.
Feature creep
One of the most painful things in game development is to kill your darlings, nevertheless it's sometimes the best thing to do. The big features are already set and we will not implement any new big features to the game until release. Small features though are always welcome as we aim to include the backers in the process.
Time is not of the essence
We have “release date” for the game that is set to have something to strive for - but we won’t release a game that we don’t think is great. That mistake is too common in game development and we have also done it in the past and it’s something we definitely do not want to happen again. We want to be proud of the game we release - our mentality is basically; It’s better to miss a deadline and be great rather than release a game in time and have it be mediocre or worse.
As a backer that put their hard earned money into our dream you will have access to our Trello backlog so you can see exactly what we are working on.
The funds
We have already put some money into the game and we really don’t want to see that go to waste - but even more important - we do not want to waste your money. That is why we have a public budget plan that will be open for you to see before backing the project.
You can find the budget in the quick references at the top of the page.
