The Wolf and the Ewe is a mysterious folktale about a young shepherd's daughter named Daciana living deep in the Carpathian Mountains of Transylvania in 1931. One night, Daciana follows a frightening creature into the forest to recover her lost lamb. This creature is the pricolici, a werewolf of Romanian folklore. After a confrontation with this creature, Daciana comes to an understanding about the depth of a father's love for his child, as well as the secrets he must reveal about himself in order to protect her.
The Wolf and the Ewe is a story that celebrates family relationships and cultural roots. Our family ties and our culture define us as individuals and are the foundation of many of our greatest spiritual experiences, both on a personal and community level.
As film students at Brigham Young University, we are excited to be working with some complicated creative elements and logistics, such as special creature effects, 35 mm film, sheep, a 15-20 foot crane, as well as building sets that include large haystacks. Working with these elements will not only help us create an aesthetically beautiful product, but will also provide us with the rare opportunity to work with these elements in practice. We don't yet have the money for all of them, which is where you come in. We need your help! Every donation goes to help pay for these elements. Thank you for your support!
