Geocachers are FANTASTIC story tellers! But there isn't a single feel-good, heart-warming, makes you go ahhhhh anthology about geocaching on the marketing.
So that's what this project is!
Stories will be collected from geocachers from around through world through a writing contest -- and the kickstarter campaign is being used to:
- Allow this to be a FREE contest so nobody has to pay to play. I want to encourage story-telling!
- Cover the costs of having the stories professionally edited so every story sparkles!
- Every winner will receive a copy of the Anthology -- and get to know the amazing feeling of being a published author. (Trust me, it's even better than a FTF!)
I've already covered the cost of the Sponsor space at Geowoodstock and travel to get there. This is just so I can keep the contest free and STILL be able to have contributors receive a copy of the book!
Risks and challenges
NOT my first rodeo with editing and publishing a book within a deadline! I've allowed myself enough time from the end of the contest reading period (April 10, 2015) to the release of the book at Geowoodstock XIII (May 22, 2015)
My biggest challenge right now is getting enough entries! There have been a few but at a $15 entry fee. I realized that while funds are NEEDED to make this happen, geocachers are uncomfortable with fees related to a writing contest.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
