Big thanks to everyone who made it possible. Tide of Battle will be available for purchase at TheGameCrafter.com a few weeks after the campaign's end.
Tide of Battle is a customizable card game for 2 or 4 players. Players take on the roles of martial artists, trying to defeat each other in hand-to-hand combat. It's a fun, strategic, game that gets deeper as you collect more decks.
Why this game?
For years, collectable card games have exploited their players with the gimmick of booster packs - little packs of random cards, not enough to make a deck and probably not the cards you want. Anyone who didn't want to spend a fortune sifting through the gutter cards of an unbalanced game had the privilege of losing to those who would. To get out of this racket, players had to turn towards board games whose options for customization were often limited.
Tide of Battle breaks new ground by having the full customization options of a collectable card game without the nasty business model or poor balance. Now, you can tweak your own, personal deck to your heart's content, then pit it against the custom creations of your friends in a dynamic, satisfying game. While the game is lots of fun with only 2 decks, it becomes exponentially richer the more you collect.
As Tide of Battle was designed and tested by a team of troublemaking upstarts, some help is needed with the budget. Our artists worked hard on this project and put out some really great images, so the primary goal of the campaign is to pay them.
Beyond that, we're also taking this opportunity to launch this game with a bang, organizing an event in New York City to distribute First Edition decks to backers and let folks mingle and play with each other for the first time. And reaching our funding goal will let us develop expansions and an iOS app to be released in the near future.
So, if you want a great card game to play with your friends and want to support independent game development in the process, this is the campaign for you. The more you contribute, the bigger and better this game will get - for everyone!
If you need your decks shipped outside the continental United States or Canada, please double the amount mentioned for "outside of NYC area." So, if that's $5, make it $10, if $20, make it $40, etc..

Here's a picture of a test print of the Apprentice Deck.
