About this project
"Richie Parsons demos at times remind me of the best heartfelt moments of Paul Westerberg, those heart-on-the-sleeve moments that belied his allegiance to the nihilism of vintage punk. Richie comes from the class of '77, but his record collection is big and wide enough to allow him to absorb all the tropes of great songwriting over the ages. Some of these songs have basic recordings done, and I can see a great album taking shape already! "

A Little History
I have been writing and performing music since 1977 with Unnatural Axe, Future Dads, Band 19, Tomato Monkey and The Chord Rockers.
In 2006 life was getting crazy for me and my wife Judy as she had been diagnosed with cancer.I turned to writing songs as an escape from reality. But it was reality I was writing about. Past friendships and loves, new friendships and fears.
I went to Rome in the Spring of 2007 and started recording the Chord Rockers record with two new friends from Italy, Astrid (Miss chain and The Broken Heels) and Alex (Dissuaders). I met Ken Stringfellow on that trip as we were both playing at The Road To Ruins Festival.
Fall 2008 I had several spinal surgeries, a massive infection and missed about 6 months of work. My family and a few close friends made a huge difference in my coping with the pain, the drugs and my depression...I wrote more songs about life, the seasons, friendships and love…..not exactly Hitler’s Brain.
This summer I had another writing spurt and decided it was time to go thru all the demos I had recorded and make a record.
Ken was familiar with a few of the demos I was working on. When I approached him for advice, Ken suggested that he Produce it! How could I say no to Ken Stringfellow sprinkling his fairy dust on my songs AND mixing my record!!
