About this project:
For the past five years, I have been writing and making music to help me through this rollercoaster of a life. For the past four and a half years, I have been helping, as well as being helped by, many in the transgender community while I have been documenting my transition from female to male on YouTube. At long last, my voice has dropped and plateaued at a place where I feel I am ready to record these songs that have been a huge part of my transition, my life, and my relationships with those I have supported and been supported by.
While they won’t be professionally done in a studio, they will be mixed and mastered professionally. Those of you who know my music – it is raw, acoustic – I’ve always been a DIY kind of guy. A couple guitar tracks, a couple vocal tracks, and maybe a little spice here and there – something that I’ll be proud of. "8 Million Beats" is playing in the background of the video; the audio quality of the songs will be about this level (but a teensy bit better, since video compression altered it) and then adding mastering on top to even out the album. Everything will be recorded in my basement, using both a Shure SM58 mic and a Blue Snowball mic, with just a few guitars and voice tracks. Simple. I like it that way.
After taking a poll from friends and fans, I will be sticking with acoustic recordings. While the song playing in the background has added effects, those will be left for bonus tracks ;]
Songs definitely on "Thank you." (all new recordings if previously recorded!):
- All in my Head
- Don't Say I Say
- 8 Million Beats
- +/- 4 to 6 more!
The funding will go toward:
- Mastering the tracks
- Pressing the CDs
- Printing the T-shirts
- Shipping & handling costs
- Should I exceed funding after mailing out perks, proceeds will go to purchase better recording equipment/studio time for the next album/travel expenses to perform at high schools and other outreach venues!
"Thank you." will be my first album pressed to CD!
& I am designing the artwork myself, something along these lines:
as well as the print t-shirts to go along with it:
*These are prototypes and actual design/shirt may vary :)
The end goal?
To give a bit of myself, a bit of my story, a bit of my life to you.
I have supported many through my open and honest documentation of my transition as well as been supported by many. As a transgender singer-songwriter, I am really proud of how far I have come in this life.
While I know I have given a lot in this world, I want to keep giving -
this time, something tangible that you can keep.
With your support, I can bring this dream to life.

Risks and challenges
Since this is my first time pressing an album to CD, I am feeling challenged by the technology to get me there. I have always gravitated towards playing live - I find it hard to capture my energy in recording. However, I will find a way, and it will be the best it can be - pressing this into life is a risk I am willing to take!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
