One year ago, le FabShop gave the internet Open Toys, a collection of 3D printable accessories able to transform fruits and vegetables into playful vehicles.
This year, we want to expand the family with new components. More parts means : more possibilities, more creativity and more fun!
Here are the next steps we would like Open Toys to take :
More parts for the Original O_T collection, adding components children have been asking for such as caterpillar tracks, a bulldozer shovel, a trailer, tractor wheels and so much more.
Create a completely new animal kingdom O_T collection, filled with funny eyes, beaks, legs, fins wings and horns! All compatible, of course, with the original O_T collection.
You will receive, before they even published, every new Open Toys design created by our studio. This includes more components to the original collection and an entirely new collection, inspired by nature.
This elephant became le FabShop's mascot in 2013, after the unexpected success of this little pre-assembled toy. Showing the real capacity of desktop 3D printing, it is now one of the world's most 3D printed model. If you back our project, you will receive an autographed version of this design classic of the new industrial revolution.

A fun and instructive cooking book for kids. Using story telling to teach kids good eating behaviors and basic cooking techniques.
Enjoy a fun and tasty cooking workshop in Paris! We will play with Open Toys then use the fruits and vegetables to create a yummy little snack that we will enjoy all together.
This is a special reward. The person choosing this reward will get to decide up to 5 new components that will be added to the Open Toys collection of his choice (or a new collection maybe). The components will be designed and prototyped by our studio for the pleasure of this creative backer!
This is a life time opportunity. If you are in the Maker's Movement, you might have heard about le FabShop reputation for insane evenings with great spirit, amazing food and unbelievable wine. France at its finest.
In the past years, we received hundreds of e-mails from people asking to buy Samuel N. Bernier's Dentelle lamps. The iconic 3D printed collection that got it's own Wired, DesignBoom and Core77 articles back in 2012. We never really had the time to push this project forward and, with the rise of desktop 3D printers, the Dentelle now has an enormous amount of clones. Very few people can brag to own an original Dentelle lamp. With this reward, not only will you get, the gorgeous suspension lamp, with the pattern and color of your choice (Black or White), but you will also receive and authenticity certificate (Yep, it's now a collector, featured in many museums and books).
Risks and challenges
For the moment, the Open Toys are available for free download on several 3D printing websites. Each component was designed to be reproduced on filament 3D printers, without need for support material, raft or assembly. Since not everyone has access to this technology yet, and because additive manufacturing is not yet suitable for large productions, we would like to eventually switch the process to injection molding. This would also allow us to ensure the use of dishwasher safe and FDA approved materials.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
