Thank you for checking out our project.
For the past year, we have made it our mission to improve the state of smartphone-friendly jeans. We noticed that it is becoming harder and harder to get your phone in and out of your jeans, as they are becoming tighter while cell phones are becoming larger. We decided to create our own line of jeans that have a dedicated, struggle-free smartphone pocket.
We have the designs, fabrics, buttons, labels, and a factory ready to go. Now we need your help to start production and put our dreams of shaking up a stagnant industry in motion.
Please support us at whichever level you feel comfortable. With your support, we'll be able to launch our company and put you into the next best jean to come out of the USA.
We are open to any questions that you may have. Please feel free to contact us!
Thank you for your support - Anand & Gitanjali
Let’s talk about the I/O Pocket™.
The very reason we are creating these jeans is for the pocket.
The pocket is on the left-hand side of the jeans, in between the knee and the hip along the seam. It is big enough to handle any of the iPhones with a slim case. VIDEO UPDATE: It will also house any phone that has up to a 4.8” screen (Galaxy S3, etc.).
USA Made and Designed
I/O jeans will be made in Downtown Los Angeles. We decided to do our manufacturing in LA, as its known for the premium denim industry. This enables us to deliver a product that is expertly manufactured.
The idea of the pocket came to Anand unexpectedly while driving on Interstate Highway-35 in Austin, Texas, after a near car accident.
We designed the first pair of jeans at our parent’s house in Austin. Hence the, “Designed in Austin, TX; Manufactured in Los Angeles” on our labels.
We are calling this first pair the “First Edition”. The fit is along the lines of a "Slim Fit", right in between skinny and straight leg. This is the most common fit available in the premium denim market. It is form-fitting from the waist to the thigh, and opens up slightly from the knee down.
We found a denim mill in North Carolina that produces a high quality premium denim. It is 100% cotton that is soft to the touch, but rugged enough to handle everyday life.
Sizes & Wash
I/O jeans will be offered for men in the following sizes: 32, 33, 34 and 36. The inseam will be following the industry-wide standard of 34”. We did this so that people can alter the jeans to their liking. We will initially be selling these sizes, and we hope to expand to a full range of men’s sizes in the future. I/O jeans are featured in a dark indigo wash. After the initial production run, we will offer a range of washes and possibly colored denim.
Why are we doing this?
We are doing this to create a better way to take your phone in and out of your jeans. At the same time, we want to be innovative in an industry that is known for rehashing the past and not adapting to current needs. Every product we create will take into account the modern needs of consumers.
Risks and challenges
The risks we see that could affect delivery could be either the denim supplier or the production facility. The denim supplier in North Carolina could take longer to get our denim style produced or could be subject to inclement weather. The facility in Los Angeles could have unseen delays as well. If delays or disruptions occur, we will find another factory to support our production.
We feel confident in our ability and the factories' abilities to mitigate all risks before they happen. If you have any questions, please let us know.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
