The Problem - Jewelry's Dirty Little Secret?
Ask yourself when was the last time you cleaned your jewelry? One month ago, six months ago, over a year? It’s ok; don’t feel bad, it’s not convenient to stop by a jewelry store on a regular basis to have your jewelry cleaned. Yet, for over the past 32 years, 95% of the jewelry that comes into my store looks like this.

I’m David Bellman; over the past 3 decades I’ve owned one of the most successful jewelry stores in New Hampshire, and I have seen a lot of jewelry. Whether a customer comes in for a repair, appraisal or inspection, and regardless of their jewelry’s value - they all virtually have one thing in common - they are filthy!!
Looking at the items that would come into my store under magnification showed just how filthy they were. And most people really just don't realize how dirty so we went to a local trade show and set up a both:
This discovery fueled my passion to pioneer a new area of study called Jewelry Hygiene. While few people know about this problem; I was sure… that if they did, they would care enough about it to do something about it…as long as I could easily incorporate into their hygiene regimen. I was determined to find a solution.
The Solution - The AquaSonic Wave
Using patent pending technology developed by industry leading engineering design firm DEKA, the AquaSonic Wave is the world’s first jewelry sanitizing system that harnesses the cleaning power of your dishwasher to clean all the dirt and grime off your jewelry. The cleaner uses stainless steel plates to aerate the water streams from your dishwasher into a fine mist creating a spa like atmosphere inside the protected compartment. This “Spa Effect” gently cleans and disinfects jewelry while the dishwasher runs through its normal cycle. The “Spa Effect” is so gentle you can safely clean your jewelry every time you run your dishwasher.
Developed by GIA Graduate Gemologist David Bellman (that's me) and world renowned engineer Dean Kamen, the AquaSonic Wave allows you to clean your jewelry in the safety and convenience of your home.
To maintain optimal Jewelry Hygiene, it is recommended using the AquaSonic Wave every two weeks.

I was very fortunate when in 2011 the Dean Kamen agreed to help me design the product I had envisioned. Dean has always been great with his focus on helping humanity with his inventions, but what some people don't know is he also always supported local small business owners and entrepreneurs like myself. I am truly grateful for all the support from Dean and the entire team at DEKA!
How the Funds Will Be Used
The funds raised will go towards completion of the manufacturing mold, purchasing of raw materials, production, and shipping. We have finalized the design, qualified and selected our manufacturer, and have even completed basic tooling. Production will begin in November.
Risks and challenges
We have gone through the process: engineering design, 3D printed prototype, functional prototype and now we need to bring the AquaSonic wave to production. Your contributions will go to completing that process. Working with the expert guidance of DEKA and some of the foremost materials experts in the world, we feel we are fully able to meet our commitments to our contributors and then bring the product to market. While we feel like we have reduced the risk as much as possible, every project has certain risks. The most common risks are potential delays in creating the manufacturing mold, obtaining raw materials, packaging, and shipping.
