About this project
Stencils for Science
I want to make sure that people remember great scientists not only for their contributions in their fields, but also for being wonderful human beings. I think the world would be a better place if we paid attention the the way some of the greatest minds of the twentieth century lived their lives and perhaps followed in their footsteps.
I just need your help to get these made so that they can be enjoyed by tons of people, and perhaps make the world a bit better. The stencils will be laser cut from 100% recycled 390gsm chipboard and are completely functional and ready for paint, though they work quite just well hung up against a dark background. I think scientific progress is extremely (hella) important, and the world is a bit better for every person who has heard of Carl Sagan or Richard Feynman.
Risks and challenges
I've already successfully made the stencil-posters as prototypes in small quantities, and I have a lot of experience with using a laser cutter, so I'm confident that I can surmount the problems I may face in manufacturing. The main challenge for me is producing large quantities, something I haven't had the chance to do. My current methods are slow so I'll have to speed up the process to allow for efficient mass production. While I'm sure that I'll be able to produce these quicker in larger quantities, in the unlikely event that I can't I've planned so that I'd still be able to deliver using my current methods, albeit at an increased man-hour cost to myself. I've also done my homework regarding shipping these out since they must be shipped flat , and getting them into your hands shouldn't be a problem.
I'm going to have to set up infrastructure for mass production and also I face challenges in mailing these posters. My number one worry is running into additional unforeseen costs mailing the posters out, shipping posters without rolling them up is expensive, but I'm still confident that everything will go smoothly.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
