My So-Called Life – which introduced viewers to Claire Danes’ quivering chin, Jared Leto’s irresistible lean, and Wilson Cruz’s groundbreaking Rickie Vasquez – is turning 25 this year. What better way to celebrate than by helping us launch The Boiler Room, a new weekly podcast crossover collaboration between Buffering the Vampire Slayer’s Kristin Russo and A Cast of Kings’ Joanna Robinson?!
If our funding goal is met, we will be able to cover every episode beginning this August, coinciding with the 25th Anniversary of the original series premiere and continuing on a week-by-week basis through the first (and only!) season. If you can’t afford the price of a box of Crimson Glow hair dye, don’t fret: the podcast will stay free and available for download (forever!) at boilerroomcast.com. In fact, you can even subscribe to our feed right now!
If you can help us make this dream a reality, you probably want to know where your dollars will go! A portion of the Kickstarter funding will go towards hard costs (things like podcast hosting, equipment/media needs that arise, paying the creators of our logo (Carra Sykes!) and our theme song (Chris Farren!), and of course Kickstarter, Amazon Payments, and taxes each take a significant percentage of the raised amount). Past those costs, the funding you help us raise here will go to pay for our time and the time of our editor! As many of you know, podcasting is time-consuming, and we’ll be clearing some other projects off our plates to make room for this one (and we so desperately want to!).
It’s only because of your generosity and support in the past that we're able to even entertain the idea of launching this rewatch project on a show that means so much to us and to so many others. We are eternally grateful to you, our listeners, for getting us here. Go, now, go and donate today!
