About The Quilliad
The Quilliad is a Canadian journal of literature and art by both emerging and established writers and visual artists. We publish exclusively Canadian content and are proud to pay our contributors for their work. This issue marks two years of publishing for us, and in that time we’ve grown from a black and white chapbook of writing to a biannual publication printed in colour with a substantial visual arts component.

We’re excited to announce that our fourth issue will be influenced by Halloween. We’re always open to a hint of horror and speculative fiction, but this time we’re actively seeking them out.
Where your money goes
Money raised through Kickstarter goes toward printing the issue, paying contributors for their writing and art, paying our staff for their hard work, rewards for backers, and Kickstarter fees.
Rewards
We're offering digital and print copies of The Quilliad, poems written for you by our staff (they can be as serious, personal, or silly as you'd like; we've written about everything from the seasons to zombie Jesus), art prints, and pinback buttons with our new logo.
Halloween-themed artwork available for prints
--bonus content exclusive to Kickstarter (not available in regular Quilliad packages)

Our last campaign was a success because of the awesome people on Kickstarter who believe in what we’re doing with this publication. We look forward to what we can create together this time around.
Risks and challenges
We've had delays in the past due to overly ambitious deadlines, printing issues, and venue booking conflicts for the launch. We now start work on the "skeleton" of the issue before submissions come in and book our venue over a month in advance to ensure that there are no scheduling conflicts and that we can foster sufficient interest in the project. This initial prepwork helps to alleviate the stress for our staff and minimise delays.
If something does happen and we are delayed, we will alert our backers to what's going on and proceed to deal with whatever issue has come up. We never cancel printing.
