After 6 self produced CDs and 12 years on the road I find myself in the enviable position of working with an outside producer for the first time. Looking to mine new sonic ground for the next CD I reached out to acclaimed producer RS Field, who has produced some beautiful records for Justin Townes Earle, Hayes Carll and Sonny Landreth, among others. He also produced Shaver's Tramp On Your Street which is a classic and one my all time favorites. I'm proud to announce RS Field will be producing the new Rod Picott CD.
My 2011 release, Welding Burns was [with enormous gratitude] fan funded privately, not publicly. I decided to fund the new project through Kickstarter as it is the most recognizable and trusted of the public fan funding sites. The producer, musicians, studio and entire team for the new release are all working well below their pay scale but the ambitions of the project dictate that I reach further and wider for support than a private campaign would allow. The entirety of the $25,000 will go towards recording, artwork, manufacturing, radio promotion, mastering and publicity. Should I be so lucky, any amount that comes in over the goal will go to extending the publicity campaign as long and far as the funds will take us.
Please join me as I start this new project and help foster the creation of what I believe will be my finest work to date. I've been writing like a man possessed the last two years and look forward to sharing what fills my notebooks with you all. I'd be grateful for your help spreading the word of this funding campaign so that I can bring the Circus of Misery and Heartbreak to as many intrepid souls as are willing to enter the tent. Share with your family and let your friends know by posting on Facebook and Twitter. Tell the neighbors. Tie notices to your dog's collar and send the pigeons out as well. Collectively, I know our reach is far and wide and any efforts to help me hit this goal will be greatly appreciated.
