Effigies is a series of short films which recreates the dishes and their scenes from classic Modernist novels:
Miss Kilman's éclairs in Virginia Woolf's Mrs Dalloway
Breakfast at the Duchemins in Ford Maddox Ford's Parade's End
Created by Sophie Bernberg and Rebecca Choong Wilkins, the films are part of literary, visual and edible project that prods at the boundaries of the written word. We're collaborating with young artists, florists, and composers to create enthralling sets and soundtracks.
Our wonderful cast, crew and production team are all volunteering their time so this funding will cover our overheads:
£550 will cover hiring equipment incl. cameras, lighting and microphones.
£800 will cover all our equipment transport costs and insurance.
£960 allows us to create complex, period sets using authentic props.
£1100 will pay crew's travel expenses.
£1700 will fund post-production incl. editing, colourists, sound.
£2500 will allow us to book the three best-suited locations for our scenes.
We'll be filming intensively over four days, starting from 16th May.
Risks and challenges
Working within such a short time frame is a challenge so we've got together an extensive team - from production designers and location scouts to trained chefs.
With relatively few actors, the success of this project depends on the quality of production so building up this team has been crucial in ensuring its success.
Although we're working with a lot of people we've both had lots of experience leading similar projects on a much bigger in scale. We've also been working on this project full time for the last month and will continue to do so until it's totally finished.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
