We love tarot. We especially love the cards, art, and the excitement of having your fortune told, but it can be difficult to learn. A couple of years ago, we had the idea of making a simple easy to learn version of tarot that was more like a game.
We showed the prototype to our friends and they loved having their fortune told and it was so easy to learn that they were able to tell our fortune after just seeing it done once or twice! Telling fortunes is as much fun as getting your fortune told.
Many of our friends wanted a deck of their own, so we worked to make the art something really special. Just as much care was put in to our higher-tier pouches and cloths which are Crafted by Lisa Marie. Now, we just need your help to print high quality professional decks.
The art for TAROT - A Game of Fortune is inspired by the Rider-Waite Tarot Deck. Our card game will consist of the Major Arcana plus 3 new cards designed by us for a total of 25 cards. With this short deck, you will be able to read a person’s fortune within minutes and get to know them a little bit better.
The Game Design
In addition to the name and number found on traditional tarot cards, ours have a short fortune similar to a fortune cookie on one end and a word to tie fortunes together on the other such as “so” and “or.” This lets you string fortunes together to tell a story. Depending on your luck, you may get a short fortune or a long one. You may get just one fate or several to choose from. Some fortunes are very good or very bad, but seeing how your friends react is always fun.
All rewards depend on your support. If this campaign succeeds, the deck of TAROT - Game of Fortune will feature the following:

We are Angelica and Aubrey, and we have a company in Portland, Oregon called 12 East Games. We started our company to make fun and interesting games that bring people together. Angelica does business and design. Aubrey is an artist and writer. We successfully funded and delivered a previous crowd-funded project on the Fig platform called Trackless; a game about going on a spiritual journey.
In order to get quality cards, we need to get a certain number of decks produced to bring the costs down. We also want to offer Backers everything we would want to get with the deck to make showing a game at a party a memorable and fun experience.
Risks and challenges
The art is completed and we have done test prints of the cards to ensure high quality. We also have some experience from previous successful projects, but unforeseen complications can arise. We may need to switch printers for reasons outside of our control or the product may not come out exactly as we expected. That said, we will do our best to ensure that the final deck is the highest quality we can get. We will notify backers about changes throughout the campaign and after.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
