Fellman Watch Co. set out to create an affordable wristwatch that will survive generations of adventures. A timepiece engineered to transition effortlessly from the office to the backcountry and assembled in the USA with high quality parts.
“This project started four years ago because I could not find a watch that was affordable and stylish enough for the weekend nights, but rugged enough for the backcountry. After years of shop work and field testing, I have now reached a point where I can use my engineering skill set to bring this watch to life. Using high-quality parts, assembling by hand in the USA, and a direct-to-consumer retail model, I cut out inflated retail prices and offer a watch that keeps up with you from the trail to dinner at 8.”

All the above prototypes were 3D printed in steel and heavily tested in the outdoors. The Limited Edition will use the same 3D printing and laser etching techniques as the prototypes.
We are offering 6 different production designs and one limited edition. Each design is named after a North American mountain range the prototypes were tested in. From the Superstitions to the Canadian Rockies and everywhere in between, these timepieces have held up to the elements and looked good doing so. The production models are machined and the limited edition is 3D printed.
The Limited Edition is what really sets us apart and is made just for you. You will receive a timepiece with the case and back 3D printed in steel. This is the same process we used for our prototypes, which have all withstood substantial wear and tear from the outdoors. The dials are laser etched and offer full customization - with your name, logo, or entire dial design of your choice. The etching removes the top coating to reveal the bare metal.
3D printed material choices: Stainless, Matte Bronze, Matte Black, or Polished Grey
A few notes about the 3D printed cases: These are printed in 420 Stainless Steel and infused with bronze, with a composition of 60/40, respectively. You can clearly see each layer of the manufacturing process, creating an industrial look you will not find in any other watch.
What to expect: This process creates a raw appearance and results in a watch that is rough, with a spruce marking on the side. If your skin is sensitive or you believe this gradient will be uncomfortable, it is recommended to select a polished material or pair this with a NATO band. There may also be slight color variation depending on the true composition of the material. These do come with sapphire crystal, screw down crown, and gasket for the back, but the case itself is not guaranteed to be water resistant and may develop a patina.
- Stainless Steel Cases (Black PVD or Bead-Blasted finish)
- Sapphire Crystal
- 100m water resistant
- Swiss Quartz movement (Gold plated, 5 jewels, Harley Ronda 763)
- Assembled in the USA
- 10 year warranty*
It's hard to demonstrate our quality by just bullet points on a page. Here is a video of us testing the scratch resistance of our sapphire crystal.
*Limited warranty against manufacturing defects. Does not include battery changes.
The bands will be offered in two styles, each with two color choices:
- 2 Piece Leather (Tan or Brown)
- Nylon NATO (Black or Tan)
The hardware for each band is offered with a Bead Blasted finish for a dull, stainless appearance or black PVD finish.
The anticipated delivery date is August 2017 (maybe even sooner!). The suppliers have already started production to get a jump start on delivering these watches to you. We want to operate with full transparency and ensure every customer is happy with their order through the entire life of the watch. Below is our projected operating timeline.
I want to personally ensure that everyone is happy with their order. If for whatever reason, you are not happy with the product, please contact us and I will make it right and refund the purchase. This Kickstarter is only beginning for us and we want our quality and customer support to be the main driving factor behind our success.
Risks and challenges
There is a risk for every Kickstarter. Our biggest concern is a late delivery. We have a high priority on quality and will not send out a product unless it meets our standards. There is also a risk of fulfilling orders on time if there is a large demand. We have analyzed possible challenges and taken measures to mitigate this risk to bring you a high quality product in a reasonable time.
We have already received and tested small scale production. These have gone through extensive engineering reviews to eliminate potential design issues. We work closely with our vendors to ensure quality components and we perform the assembly in house to have total control of the final product. Our team has extensive engineering experience in the aerospace and defense industry. We have used this experience to create an efficient manufacturing process, high quality control, and minimized the potential of future challenges. This project is our only focus and we are excited to bring it to life!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
