Knights: Spiral Islands: Kickstarter Update 02-21-11 No matter how much you pledge or have already pledged, you will get the Knights multiplayer release (Including beta access). The multiplayer release will include all the arenas, co-op missions, and experimental mini-games we develop for the spiral islands as well as a whole range of others while the game continues development. So pledge up, and battle with your friends in the Knights arena. Knights is an online action adventure game in which players travel across all of space and time in a vast multiverse to battle evil, defend the innocent, and add to the collective good of the cosmos. Your role: a knight – a paragon of goodness and virtue charged with defeating evil in whatever form it takes; whether that happens to be vanquishing terrifying armies or reading bed-time stories to orphans. The game is designed to be infinitely expandable in bite-sized releases. In one scenario, the knights are up against an invading fleet of star Vikings, while in another it might be mushroom zombies, haunted bicycles, evil robots, or psychic space bees. The scenarios are as variable as we can stretch our imaginations, and the same applies to gameplay and art style. Ranging from single player narratives to multiplayer arenas, co-operative gameplay, and everything in between; cutting edge graphics or 8 bit – Knights is intended to be like a music playlist that goes on and on in endless variety.
This game is funded by its players. The more you add to the pot, the bigger the game gets, the faster it develops, and the richer the content becomes. Once it hits market it’ll generate a revenue stream of its own, but until then, it’s on you. This game belongs to its community. Development: As it is, we’re already in development on the Spiral Islands scenario, and will continue to work on it as hard as we can until someone comes and shuts off the power and puts us out on the street. Once it’s gone to market, and we can cover our costs, we will continue to develop new scenarios until old age, blindness, and promiscuous universal incontinence sets in. Maybe even after that. As long as we can keep a roof over our heads, Knights will continue development in some form or another and will remain publicly available. This is the game that doesn’t end. After the Spiral Islands scenario is complete, we’ll produce another and bit-by-bit increase the playable spaces you and your friends can explore in the Knights universe. New places and times to visit; new game modes to play; new arenas to battle in; new bad guys to beat into toothless, pulpy submission. Spiral Islands: Spiral Islands is our first release; a first person action serial delivered in a sequence of small chapters. In this scenario, the Knights arrive in the mysterious Spiral islands to battle a pirate fleet seeking out an ancient power said to be locked away there. This scenario begins with a battle across the beaches and tide pools of the Spiral Islands and continues on in subsequent chapters with the unfolding story of the Carcinite pirates and the mystery of the islands. In addition to the chapter-by-chapter serial, the Spiral Islands scenario includes a number of multiplayer arenas to be released over time. Kickstarter Goals: Our Goal is to raise at least 25 thousand dollars here on Kickstarter. This will allow us to develop the essential story and gameplay of the first chapter of the Spiral Islands serial.
That’s just the beginning really. If the funding continues to roll, we can complete the whole scenario and bring it to market. If we raise: 10 thousand: We get half way to completion of the first chapter in the Spiral Islands serial. 25 Thousand: All essential systems, story, sound, environments and characters completed. All of these elements are compiled into a downloadable, playable package which includes the first chapter of the spiral islands serial as an adventure for single player and cooperative play, as well as a handful of other multiplayer game modes and arenas. 45 Thousand: We can bring the second chapter of the Spiral Islands serial to completion. This means more than three times the playable single player and cooperative content, as well as greatly expanded multiplayer game modes. 70 Thousand: At this point we can complete the third chapter of the Spiral Islands serial and take the story into new territory, introduce new characters, new systems, and continue to expand multiplayer and cooperative content. At this level, we get to see what Knights is really supposed to be and what makes it different from other games. Any funding beyond this allows us to continue expansion with more multiplayer arenas and gameplay types, longer story driven content, and will allow us hire additional talent so we can dramatically reduce development time. Our intention is to hire new, up-and-coming talent from the independent game development scene and help them get their first break in the industry. It’s important to realize that we’re not just “hoping to become” game developers. We’ve already been doing this professionally for more than 10 years. Creating this game is our passion, and whether we’re partly or fully funded, we will be continue to work at it until it’s completed. We can get it to market much sooner and in much better shape with your help. So, that said, please help Knights reach its fullest potential and help us launch our first scenario: the Spiral Islands.
Don't forget that you're not pledging money for the free things we offer, in the end you're pledging money because you want to see this game completed, and you want to support it. If you do not have the means to support us now then just wait until the spiral islands serial is complete and buy it then because our target price range is low (under 5 to 10 dollars).
