About this project
FUNDING GOAL DOUBLED! (02/13/2012)
Not only is it doubled, but we broke 10K! Amazing, holy crap. To say this went beyond our wildest expectations isn't even close!
Since Alex took care of the thank-you gift last time, Jayd did the honors for this event. She promised in jest she'd draw Luca being sexy, and she followed through! Please click here to view the drawing (slightly nsfw).
Thank you yet again! This has been a wild ride. There is a week left to pledge, so get in your pre-orders while you still can!
FUNDING GOAL REACHED! (01/24/2012)
...in only just over 24 hours! We are stunned!
To show our gratitude, we have a gift: a Sfeer Theory original story regarding Luca and Balzac post-Chapter 1, written by Alex. Please click here to read it!
There is 28 days of pledging left to go! Keep on pledging, the more pre-orders we take the better we can provide!
Thank you everyone! This is incredible.
Sfeer Theory: Uitspan Era is a comic written by Alex "Muun" Singer and drawn by Jayd "Chira" Ait-Kaci, which can be read online freely here. It's an ambitious fantasy epic created in two parts, of which The Uitspan Era being produced first. The first chapter is what this project will be funding for printing.
The print edition of Issue One will feature a visually revised version than what is currently available on the site: all the pages have been re-lettered, re-colored, and a large amount of panels or pages have been redrawn. The print will be 8x12" softbound, 64 pages full color, containing the 55 pages of Chapter 1, and the other 14 pages include titles, notes, acknowledgements, and a bonus exclusive story written by Alex Singer with accompanying illustrations by Jayd Ait-Kaci.
Any additional works by Alex and Jayd can be viewed at littlefoolery.com.
WHAT IS THE COMIC ABOUT?
The comic was born from the idea of the rise and potential fall of an empire and a powerful wizard who lives to guard it. It is still in its early stages with The Uitspan Era, which is a story that concentrates on the origin of its premise. It follows Luca Valentino, a talented yet unappreciated cyclist (the term for a magic user) who works as a lab technician at a university, and one day by being in the wrong place at the right time gets himself entangled in more than he can handle.
The first chapter was completed last August, but due to unfortunate emergency's in the artist's life the act of printing it in book form as been delayed until now.
HOW MUCH WILL THE PRINTING COST, AND WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO?
Based on estimates and quotes of some printers we've inquired with, the cost of printing and delivery will be around $4,500. Any funds that exceed the goal will go into packaging and postage. Any funds that exceed that will be put directly back into the project--such as funding other sorts of merchandise, future prints of Issue 2, and so on. All of the money earned in this Kickstarter is a 100% investment in Sfeer Theory's future.
