The Dark Gun is a comic book series of short stories that loosely tie together by tracing the history and impact of a mysterious gun created during the late 1800s in the United States. The gun forms a unique and different bond with certain people that come to be in its possession. The stories are fiction, but seek to explore subtle themes of man's relationship with guns throughout a variety of generations.
In the first issue of The Dark Gun, we saw U.S. cavalry soldier Jon Ambrose on the Western frontier. It was here that he was given the gun that changed his life forever.
Throughout the story his mind becomes clouded by the gun's presence and it leads him down a path of no return. And ultimately results in his downfall.
Before he meets his fate for what he has done, he hides the gun and sends a letter to his young son, Roark, with a map of where to find it.
THE DARK GUN #2
The next part of the story picks up with the son of Jon Ambrose embarking on a journey to find the gun.
After growing up under the torment of orphanage life, along with his friend William, they set off West.
After a near death experience, they manage to obtain the gun and make an escape to a train passing by.
It's here that Roark becomes affected by the gun. Will it lead him towards a similar fate as his father or will he survive long enough to get the new life he always dreamed of?
The Dark Gun #2 is a 20 page full color comic book that has recently been completed.
THE GOAL OF THE CAMPAIGN
Since the book is now finished, the goal is to get it printed. The money raised through this campaign will go towards a print run of 250 full color books.
This book is a self contained story, however, the original intent was to have it carry on as an anthology. Each additional book in the series would follow a different character and how the same Dark Gun affects them throughout different eras. So any additional money raised would go towards the cost of producing the artwork for part 3 and onward.
WRITER | LETTERS | PRODUCTION
I’m a glasses wearing, bald guy who loves dogs, beer, comics books, graphic design, movies, his wife and kid. Mix into that a healthy dose of sarcasm and self-deprecating humor and you know pretty much all that encompasses me. I’ve been a professional graphic designer for the past eleven years working in a variety of marketing and advertising agencies. In short, I live and breathe graphic design. It has become part of who I am. I combined that passion with my love for comic books and that is what has led me here today.
