Join me in creating a world of expression through garments that you can truly live in and love with. Celebrate individuality. Embrace meaning. Contribute to the culture around you.
-I am an artist with a vision. I see clothes not as a product to market and sell, but as an opportunity to let my artistic voice be heard. A deep passion for the rich history and craft of making beautiful garments is at the core of all I do, and this love is always present in the designs I make. Learn more in my bio and by visiting my website.
-This isn't just fashion. It is passion. It is heart and soul. It is a lifestyle and a frame of mind that believes that clothes matter. They matter not because some brand or label is trying to shove them down your throat, they matter because they help us feel good, they help us express who we are, and they help us participate in our culture in a way that really works - using the clothes on our backs.
-It’s happening locally. The garments will all be made locally and under my guidance and my highly experienced team. No factories overseas. No underpaid labor. This isn’t just about making clothes: it’s about building strength in our local economy and culture.
-My standards are high. I believe that clothes should last, they should carry meaning, and they should help you be the best version of yourself you can be. MC designs use the best materials. My fabrics and materials have the same integrity that my design team does. I source all my fabrics with quality in mind, making certain the materials I work with will last and not leave an ugly footprint on the earth.
-Momentum is building. I have been featured in nearly every regional magazine in and around Seattle, the New York Times, FiberArts Magazine, Surface Design Journal, and have exhibited in New York, London, Athens, Tokyo, Luxembourg. Celebrities are starting to take note too: Drew Barrymore fawned over MC pieces during a Seattle visit, and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis will be wearing MC in a spring editorial for OUT Magazine.
-MC is no longer a one-man-band. I have created a team of talented pattern makers, tailors and seamstresses to bring my designs to life. Business consultants, accountants, production experts and retailers are standing by, ready to partner with us in this new venture.
-The designs are nearly complete and this Kickstarter campaign will provide the resources to finish them all. This includes finalizing the designs, sewing finished samples and preparing patterns for production so that these designs can soon be out of the studio and available to YOU!

$2000 will bring a reward with a legacy of its own: have a garment in the MC 2013 Collection NAMED AFTER YOU. I will call you personally to thank you for your pledge and chat a bit about the collection to get a feel for which design is best suited to carry your name. You will also be given the design bearing your name, in your size, ready to include in your personal wardrobe. Risks and challenges
Running a business is a risk. Being an artist is a risk. Doing them both at the same time and counting on them as your livelihood is a challenge and risk like none other, and one that I have done successfully for 5 years.
Taking this next big step forward is a whole new challenge. Production hurdles will certainly happen, snags will arise, and questions will come up that I have not previously considered. If and when these arise and affect my Kickstarter supporters, I promise to communicate openly about any changes along the way, do everything in my power to keep the promises I committed to from the start, and – most important of all – stay true to the goal and vision of this project.
I am not in this alone. While the name "Michael Cepress" will be sewn into every design in the end, none of this can happen without the assistance, guidance and consult of the dozens of others in my close-knit network of people ready to give this collection its legs. I will meetwith them regularly and trust their expertise to guide me through the challenges and changes as they happen.
