Friends in Common Time CD (Canceled)
Building on the success of my first CD, Poems and Dreams, I am coproducing another album of works by living composers.
Friends in Common Time will feature works by living composers from the USA and Europe. Adrienne Albert (USA), Francis Kayali from the USA, Peter Kutt (Germany), Peter Machajdik ( Slovakia), Tor Brevik (Norway), Alexander Timofeev (Moldova), Kevin Walker (USA). Additionally, a well loved work by French composer, Andre Caplet will round out the program. I will be joined again by Alexander Timofeev on piano and Kevin Walker, sound engineer, both based in Philadelphia, PA. USA. As a professional musician, it's not unusual to meet many talented people. However, this project is giving me, Alexander and the composers a rare opportunity to cooperate across borders. We all live through the common language of music which is also our tool to reach others who may not speak our native language. Everyone understands music! Prejudices and biases dissolve, admiration and friendship grows. This is our small attempt to display the cooperation that can occur between countries separated by great distances and differences.
Risks and challenges
Producing a CD can be an exercise in debt if not done correctly. Studio time, mastering, duplication, composers fees, musicians fees can add up quickly making a project of this type out of reach for most musicians. I have been fortunate that many people involved in the CD have volunteered their time. The biggest expense and the one that makes it all worth it is the radio promotion. Starting costs for radio promotion in the USA only runs over $3000 dollars. To reach Europe, one must invest upwards of $13,000. Alone, I can only invest in the North America but with your help, I will be able to connect with radio shows across the USA and Canada but also Asia, South Africa, South America, Australia, Central America and New Zealand. These countries are already highlighting my previous album. Your small investment helps not only me, but my composers as well to gain an international following. You do have an influence in keeping new music alive across the globe!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
