A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.

Language is beautiful, fascinating and occasionally frustrating – especially if the conversation is between speakers of two different languages! When you're traveling abroad, there’s nothing worse than being stuck in an unknown place without a means to effectively communicate.
Real communication is natural and face-to-face. Without eye contact and body language, conversations are awkward or altogether impossible.
That's why we created the WT2 translator, the real-time translating earphone for natural, hands-free communication. Conversations between different languages are enabled by two earphone translators and one app. Each person wears one earphone - you speak in your language, they hear in theirs.
WT2 was recently featured on TechCrunch. Thanks for the demo!
We can't wait to share the WT2 translator with the Kickstarter community. With your help, we can bridge the gap in foreign language communication.
WT2 is a real-time, wearable translator that includes 2 earphones, 1 app, and a customized charging case. The earphones provide long-term, hands-free foreign language communication, allowing you to immerse yourself in the local culture while traveling, express yourself more completely and build more meaningful connections with the people you meet.
What is 1+2, and why is it the best solution for natural bilingual conversation?
"1+2"=1 app + 2 earphone translators.
Our WT2 is the world’s first and only “1+2 translation” system. This means that unlike other solutions, our patented technology innovatively allows multiplexed speech communication between both WT2 earphone translators and a single phone with the WT2 App, creating a smooth communication experience for the user.
This system integrates wireless communication technology, intelligent algorithms, voice translation, and many other technologies into one seamless package. By using "1 +2", one can easily talk with anyone, regardless of spoken language, and with no awkward setup steps.
“1+2“ is the key to breaking down language barriers across the globe, letting you easily talk to new people without having to worry about asking them to download an app on their own phone first - Just pass them an earphone and start having a real conversation! With the WT2, full eye contact and natural body language are maintained, allowing you to not only to talk to other people in different languages, but to really understand them.
Here are some of WT2’s unique features:
Perfect for travel enthusiasts, expats, homestay students, cross-cultural families, international shops, hotels and everyone in between. WT2 can help make your travel experience more enjoyable and improve your communication efficiency with foreign customers or partners.
WT2 comes ready to use - just separate the charging case and share one half with your speaking partner. The earphones will automatically wake up and pair with each other as well as the app. Nothing could be more Simple!
The WT2 translator currently supports six languages: Mandarin Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish. After our initial release, we will continually add more languages (Portuguese, Arabic, Thai, etc.), which will be rolled out via our app updates. Kickstarter Community: Please leave your ideas about which languages you would like WT2 to support! We’ll plan to include the most requested languages in our next app update.
After in-depth research that examined the most common travel situations and careful consideration of WT2’s technical capabilities, we’ve created three communication modes (“Auto”, “Manual”, and “Ask”) to deal with a variety of communication environments.
This mode is for conversation in a relatively quiet environment such as a hotel, meeting room or coffee shop. There’s no need for any manual operation – with its advanced built-in in intelligent algorithm, WT2 will translate your conversation in real time, absolutely hands-free.
This mode makes communication possible even in a noisy environment. Unfortunately, the WT2 translator can’t be fully automatic in very noisy environments, but you can easily adapt to your surroundings by activating the Manual mode.
This mode is useful for quick inquiries like asking for directions or confirming a price. To use Ask mode, wear one of the earphones and hold your phone in front of your conversation partner. He or she can then hear the translation aloud or view the translated text.
The simple, creative design of our custom charging case makes it easy to share your WT2 translator with your speaking partner. There’s no awkward fumbling - just separate the charging case and start your conversation in one smooth step.
WT2’s charging case can recharge the earphones on-the-go for extended use and longer conversations. Just place your earphones inside the case and charging will start automatically. The battery life of the WT2 translator is approximately 2 hours when used outside of the charging case.
People are often surprised to discover how far machine translation technology (MT) has progressed. Today, the technology has already reached the level we need, in most cases, for daily communication.
We’ve had major breakthroughs on both real-time automatic audio interaction and smart speech translation switch technology. Our system has successfully integrated wireless communications technology, voice translation technology, wearable technology and acoustic technology. Most of these technologies have never before been integrated into an earphone, but the WT2 translator achieved this in order to deliver an unprecedented interactive experience to users.
It's incredibly exciting for us to make this new translation technology accessible to everyday consumers at an affordable price. We strive to make the WT2 translator a better translation experience - natural, reliable and instantly ready to use.

Risks and challenges
From design to iterative prototyping, we’ve taken almost all possible obstacles into consideration and found solutions to ensure high quality and fast production. As our prototype demonstrates, WT2’s design has been well-established. Next, we’ll verify the manufacturability of our design. We’re confident in our final prototype, which we built with production processes in mind.
As with any project, we will face manufacturing challenges during production. However, our team has not only a passion for product design but also experience in engineering and manufacturing. We are confident that we’ll deliver the WT2 translator on-time and at an outstanding level of quality.
