About this project
UK based DJ & Producer Dave Seaman is looking for £25,000 to make the very first crowd funded 2 x CD DJ Mix compilation album. (That we know about anyway. We might be wrong but that's what Google says and Google is always right). It seems like a lot of money I hear you say. And you'd be right but albums are expensive to make. Nice artwork costs a pretty penny and of course, artists and record labels need to be paid for letting us have the rights to use their tracks. So rest assured that your money will be allocated wisely - licensing advances for the artists and labels featured, mechanical royalties, artwork & sleeve design, production and manufacture, postage and packaging. Plus, we have to pay people to actually do the licensing and contracting for us, mastering engineers to make it sound perfect and maybe even some PR people so we can spread the word about what could potentially be a game changing concept. And thats an exciting thing to be part of right?
In exchange for your support in making this happen, you, the pledger has the opportunity to secure all sorts of exciting and exclusive rewards from signed copies of the album (a double CD no less), your name featured in the Thank You section of the album credits and exclusive T shirts featuring fancy artwork from those awesome designers Neighbour (down in that there London) right through to one-to-one DJ lessons, VIP nights out or even a private party for you and all your friends. Well not all of them, just 30. Now you don't get all that when you pre order from Amazon do you?
This album would be the first of it's kind. Having done many mix compilations previously for the likes of Global Underground, Renaissance & BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix, Dave looked at the offers on the table and thought "hmmm it's time to do something different, lets try to make a compilation as a communal project where music lovers could get involved on many different levels and feel part of the project" And so here we are. Remember, this album will never be available in the shops and quite simply will not be made without you guys getting involved and showing your support.
To pledge to a project, just click the green “Back This Project” button on any project page. You will be asked to enter your pledge amount and select a reward. If we manage to get to our funding goal then your card will be charged and you can sit back and wait for your chosen reward to pop through the post or wait for Dave to turn up at your door *. Of course we'll keep you updated along the way. But if the project does not reach its funding goal, your card is never charged and we will slink away back to the corner and try to stop coming up with ground breaking ideas. Lets try really hard not to let that happen though.
*obviously there would be some advance warning!
Risks and challenges
The only real risks on this project are delays through manufacturing or not being able to licence the tracks that Dave really wants to use. We wouldn't name and shame any labels that chose to not get involved. Though we would hiss at them through gritted teeth. But we'd understand and would simply find more material. If the manufacturing plant delays us we would let you know pronto. But all of us here at Team Seaman have many years of experience in manufacturing, licensing, artwork approval so we're quietly confident we can deliver on time. We've just jinxed it haven't we?
But anyway, we promise to keep you up to date with the process through status updates on here and on Dave's Facebook and if there are any delays on any aspect you will be the first to know.

I'm just honoured to have the opportunity to contribute to your project - you've provided me with years and countless hours of pleasure through both your productions/compilations and your live dj sets - this is one way I can give a small token of my enormous gratitude! And to be able to 'be a part' of your forthcoming album on top of this is truly special!
Wishing you all the very best with this Dave - I hope the my pledge helps and you reach the goal soon - with the response so far it looks like you're going to smash it!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Yes, absolutely. Although we will delay sending out the digital copies until we know the actual CD's are starting to arrive with people. We wouldn't want the album being hosted on illegal download sites now would we?
